Kern Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Guardian debuts obssesion over Taylor and Swifties https://www.theguardian.com/music/2024/mar/13/from-emily-dickinson-to-joe-alwyn-taylor-swift-is-a-master-of-misleading-messaging Quote Taylor Swift and Emily Dickinson are sixth cousins three times removed. Ancestry.com shared the blessed news – in no way, I am simply certain of it, prompted by team Swift as promo for her forthcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department. Call it the Tortured Promo Department Quote But there are riskier ways that Swift plays fast and loose with inference, especially given the fact that she has previously said she’s “trained” fans to look for clues and connections in her work. What started as a cute treasure trail that revealed genuine information about the subjects of her songs and approaching release dates – what do the highlighted letters in these liner notes spell out? How many holes in this fence? – caught on like wildfire, turning her admirers into sleuths and Swift’s every knowingly constructed outfit, nail polish colour and Instagram caption into grist for their conspiracy mill. lol they should've written about this thread, the mess in here would make for at least 2 usseles essays

Ariana got good reviews despite her hate train. If the album is good, the critics won't slander the album too badly. But regardless critics are irrevelant.

It’s not new hate as hers and also yes, hers is better (weird of me to say that) because it’s her best work so it was hard to ignore it even though… Folklore, Evermore and Midnights got mostly good reviews. If critics would focus too much on her antics instead of music they would lose credibility Edited March 15 by stupidjock

Dear Reader Posted March 15 Posted March 15 She ALWAYS survives hate trains. It’s been proven again and again. The critics will be fine, trust me 6

But remember critics don't matter at all anymore. people listen with their own ears.

Fama Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) The hints are either because Fortnight is the lead single or because TTPD has a sister album that will drop soon afterwards. Edited March 15 by Fama 2

I would love if its a double album like Shania Twain's Up! with a pop and country/rock version but its not realistic I feel at best it will be another surprise 3am drop like Midnights with 5-6 additional tracks as a chaotic surprise But its DEFINITELY not a surprise rep (TV) release like some delusional cupcake twitter/tiktok Swifties think Every album from now on will have months of preorders

It could be a disc that holds a 3am-esque drop, but that fact paired with the random video TN posted of her telling Benji “you’re going to have two sisters” made me gather my clown makeup supplies 1

I mean I guess it will depend on the length of the album, but 17 tracks are already too much for 2 LPs, no? 1

I would assume the vinyls simply wouldn’t get those songs if they exist, since the 3am songs were never on a vinyl release either. the store also oddly never showed the back covers of the CDs, only the back cover of the vinyls.
