So start tomorrow with Track 1, and then 2, etc. I don’t even know if people would find this fun anyway Spoiler We did this around Middy’s release and it was a fun way to try and distract the usuals that lack patience and keep on melting down daily 36 minutes ago, Maroon legacy said: I actually think that TTPD is the best possible era to make the ballad a lead single, it would become instant classic and actually could bring her SOTY. But since she's not making a pre-release single, I think that the lead will be whatever pop smash she has on that album. She still can make a ballad a 2nd or a 3rd single and it still would be great, but it will kinda lose it's significance. But imagine if the lead single is So Long, London I hope that it will serve a reverse CBBH when it comes to the sentiment, but continue this decade’s incredible streak of track 5s 21 minutes ago, Holiest Dreams said: Why do I have a feeling that I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) will be one of the few upbeat (but melancholy) pop song with sad lyrics about trying to fix someone with depression. I can see it being something kinda like DWOHT, not that I expect or want it to sound exactly like that, but just the way it’s an upbeat song with sad lyrics and very melancholy-sounding production I kinda want it I’d die for a Forever Winter 2.0 1

Reveal hidden contents Now, if the hate is for Lavender Haze... okay I hope none of the TTPD videos are that… interesting Yeah the Karma video was a nice progression in her directorial skills, for instance it showed that she's learned that cameras can move in three dimensions alongside what they're filming to change perspective and to make for transitions OT: I really like all of the album covers of the variants! 1 2

ICSY was also a nice improvement in her directional skills imo, the cinematography was very nice and it showed she realized she can film a video outside of standard 16:9 camera ratio. I get some people find it boring, and that’s fine, but just speaking… as objectively as you can get with entertainment, it was nicely done from a technical aspect. Speaking of the variants, I hope they do something like Eternal Sunshine where the animated cover on Apple Music shows all the variants 1

Burqa Posted March 14 Posted March 14 on a side note what I hate about the midnights videos is that she tries to be funny that's why i hated the delicate video too hope she's serious with TTPD videos since she also was with willow and cardigan 2
Ithinkforme13 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I've always felt like her direction has been fine for videos, it's her story-boarding/writing for the videos that has gone downhill.
littlebodybigheart Posted March 14 Posted March 14 joseph kahn was around for 2 eras and people act like she’s nothing without him 1

Swifties also wanted her to ditch Max after Rep and now they want him back mental illness 5 minutes ago, Burqa said: on a side note what I hate about the midnights videos is that she tries to be funny that's why i hated the delicate video too hope she's serious with TTPD videos since she also was with willow and cardigan Agreed with this. The skits were unneeded and drag down the replay value immensely. I just want good videos, without skits and dialogue, that are serious and well-thought-out. 2

Anti hero, cardigan and willow were find to good. It’s when she focuses on Easter eggs that the story boarding sucks. But also music videos are almost dead. We won’t get the big budget Kahn mvs back even if she stops directing.

But since most fans are only going to watch the mv a few times anyway I don’t think that matters to Taylor.
Holiest Dreams Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Also, with all of this said, no matter how good her direction skills become, I don’t think we are ever getting another LWYMMD or whatever. That was a once-in-a-career type of video, and there’s just no sense in investing that much into videos anymore when they’re irrelevant. I do hope she’ll eventually do a full visual film for an album though, and I’m sure that will be very high budget. Not happening with TTPD I’m sure but maybe later this decade. 1
Sprawl Posted March 14 Posted March 14 The plot twist when the single is The Alchemy or something on the lower side of the tracklist I’m still hoping it’s Fresh Out the Slammer, it just sounds iconique 1

What I hate about how big she's gotten is that she has this kind of mentality for everything. She's realized she doesn't have to do any of it and still will find success. It's not always about money, I wish she had the same hunger she had back in the day (specially during the 1989 era) just for the sake of artistry. A good expensive music video would be enough proof that she still cares. Makes me think it's the same reason why she got Christopher Rowe (who is objectively inferior to Max when it comes to vocal production) for all of the TVs and why the packaging and overall design for 1989 TV looks so cheap and tacky. But she seems to try a bit harder for the new studio albums so I suppose I'll be satisfied with the era. 1 1
IBeMe Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Am I the only person that genuinely loved most of the Midnights self directed mvs? Like I know they have some amateurish vibes but I love their magical feeling to them. Like Anti-Hero's mv is so cute and feels warm and then LH, Karma and Bejeweled's mvs feel magical and whimsical (though LHs mv has too many unprofessionally shot / edited moments so it throws me off too much). But yeah...overall they were solid efforts imo. Obviously nothing like her Joseph Kahn mvs but still good in a homemade type of way 3
ATRL Moderator wehavetostan Posted March 15 ATRL Moderator Posted March 15 Random but I wonder if Taylor would ever consider writing with Liz Rose again. They created so many beautiful songs and melodies together

But she seems to try a bit harder for the new studio albums so I suppose I'll be satisfied with the era. I kind of agree but kind of disagree. On the one hand, she did give us four music videos for Midnights, three of which I’d argue are very good (not her best but still very good) Not many pop artists are doing that many music videos and the ones that are don’t have videos with even half the budget. A lot of pop videos barely have concepts too which makes the Midnight’s videos even better by comparison. With regard to the TV packaging, I can’t speak to the CDs but the Fearless, SN, and 1989 vinyl are all beautiful with some amazing pictures/booklets (better than Midnight’s honestly). The back of SNTV is actually one of my favorites from her. Also, and I know I might in the minority here, but Chris’ production is right on/better on most of the tracks for me. I have no desire to revisit the stolen versions tbh, even on the few tracks I recognize are ‘inferior.’ Now, when it comes to live performances, press tours, interviews, etc. that’s what I personally miss. I get why she wouldn’t prioritize them anymore (she really has no need for them) but not having a single televised performance of any of Midnights’ singles (namely Anti-Hero) is criminal! Anyway, very much excited to see how Poet’s turns out. I already know I’m going to love the album, but Taylor always finds a way to make a release feel special and unique. One of my absolute favorite things about stanning her. 7
