I love The Tortured Poets Department, I think it will be a really interesting ablum. 'Dear Reader' kind of the mission statement of Midnights - the typically obfuscatory verses, but the bridge really opens up the sing and ties everything together. A career highlight! To a house, not a home, all alone 'cause nobody's there Where I pace in my pen and my friends found friends who care No one sees when you lose when you're playing solitaire She really SNAPPED. Overall, Midnights starts strong and ends even stronger, with some Lover-esque throwaways sagging the middle. Probably #7 or #8 in Her ablum discography at this point. We hope for even better on The Tortured Poets Department you ain't slick bookie 5

Just completely unhinged mental illness, I am still surprised She put this on the standard version, it has a very 3AM energy. Such a subtly infectious sing, it never gets old. A sing for only the most advanced intellectuals. Whew the taste on display in this take could be the centerpiece at The Louvre
1989 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Not me literally about to say let’s do top 5 best and worst red carpet looks and a mod clocking us Spoiler Also who reported because y’all know the album threads become the new base, get with it 5
19SLAYty9 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Will TTPD be her doing her best ANTi meets CTRL meets SOS impersonation or her doing her best Stevie Nicks meets Mazzy Star meets Suki Waterhouse impersonation? It’s one of the 2. I’m just not sure yet.

Best: Spoiler Yes the hair is a mess and the earrings are giving dangling wine goblets but this dress is too ******* cunty and the body is bodying. The way her boobs and the cut of the dress make a perfect heart and the thigh slit and the MermaidSwift heels oh we were eating this night especially since it was only like her third or fourth red carpet after the 2016 break This was the best really the only good thing about the post Rep tour, pre-ME! times. Worst: Spoiler I love a good nude lip but this just washes her out. The dress is unflattering and looks like a communal art project from children in a hospital that they all did together to pass the time. The hair here is giving menopausal librarian and the earrings are giving craft stall on the side of the road in rural New Mexico that, while cute, were $9 and don't warrant a wear to the Golden Globes. Also, she was only here because she was promoting Cats, and that in and of itself is worth several demerits. It's ironic that she wore them to the same event in back to back years too nnnnn 10

19SLAYty9 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) During Ariana’s interview w Zane Lowe, he said he spoke to a artist recently about their upcoming album and it was an album about love lost / heartbreak but it seemed like that person still had a lot of love for the subject of the songs… do we think it’s Taylor? It might be. Aside from the POTY interview, Zane Lowe was Taylor's last traditional, long-form, interviewer I guess aside for the cursed Directors on Directors thing, so it stands to reason that she'd sit down to speak with him now.
anastaciabby Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Spoiler Do the para social leeches that live off Taylor not get bored of going into a thread they don’t like to report it? And the reports are taken seriously? I love folklore and think TTPD will be that lyrically but have a cigarettes after sex sound 1
Burqa Posted March 12 Posted March 12 the lead is surely one of the first songs on the album if it isn't fortnight, i bet it's down bad
Magickarp Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Going purely based on tracklist positions, imma guess My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys as the lead. Fortnight has 1st track & collab promo. TTPD has title promo. Which leaves MBOBHFT. Or she could just go all out and make Fortnight the lead. It being the 1st track on an album with no lead is already enough to secure the #1. Tack on a collab + lead single status & the numbers will be (& then crash after a week, like Willow) I hope the lead is solo tho 2

State of Grace. Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I'm like 80% sure the lead is Down Bad. I pray it's not the Post collab Would love it if its So Long, London (Track 5 hello!!!!) or the title track too

Holiest Dreams Posted March 12 Posted March 12 22 minutes ago, Magickarp said: Going purely based on tracklist positions, imma guess My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys as the lead. I was coming here to say just this after seeing all the speculation Idk why, but it just sounds iconic, plus the last time she won AOTY with a pop career repeak (1989), the following album’s lead single was the same number in the tracklist as Shake It Off (#6). Anti-Hero and MBOBHFT are both track 3s, so Maybe it’s just that a collab is the absolute last song I want as the lead single, and Down Bad is the most boring/meh song title on the whole record. Plus, I think she could use another smash hit with an obnoxious/wordy title. In fact, MBOBHFT being the mature 2020s version of WANEGBT would be kind of iconic. Something snarky/sarcastic (but not necessarily immature) about how Joe didn’t know what he had until he lost it and doesn’t know how to care for those he loves Also also, I kinda need the lead single to have a similar sonic palette to Djo’s ‘End of Beginning’ (which is currently smashing). A dreamy, midtempo alt-rock song with some gorgeous synths as a compliment to the organic instrumental would be so perfect. Who said smash of the year? 3
Holiest Dreams Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) Okay, but speaking commercially about the lead single, oomf on Twitter suggested she should just let Fortnight (or whatever the most popular track is, but probably Fortnight) debut at #1 on release week. Then, start pushing the lead single on the second week with a proper radio deal and music video. That way she can get multiple #1s… which is the only downside to her rollout strategy - only 1 #1 per album cycle, despite the power she could have to send every single to #1 if she wanted to release several. I’m kinda into this idea. I mean, I bet Fortnight has a music video anyway, so she could release it on week 1 without making it the single and then shifting focus to whatever the most viral track is on week 2 (MBOBHFT/Down Bad the most likely examples, especially if she has a video ready for one of those). She really could’ve done this with Midnights ngl, let LH debut at #1 on release week since it’s track 1 and drop the music video, then push Anti-Hero as the proper lead on week #2. This would be a good time to try that. Edited March 12 by Holiest Dreams 7

rivingtonrebel Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Do we have any idea of what the album is gonna sound like? I keep seeing tweets about this being pop, but I wouldn't mind if it is a little bit soft-rock/alternative.
