True campness must be organic, this is why all Her attempts at camp fail. Bejeweled & Karma both flops. Meanwhile, the Ice Spice version of Karma is true camp - outsold the original

I'm doubtful it'll be Rep TV either, as even though we don't have the timeline nailed down for that I think most people agree it was finished before the tour. 1
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) 'Sweet Nothing'... similar to 'Lavender Haze' in its intentional nothingy vagueness. What She doesn't say is more interesting than what She does. What really lets the sing down is the production - the tasteful, self-consciously 'classic' sonic landscape does nut do much for me. Very mid overall. Edited March 11 by Great Username

I think I just saw the black and white filter and took that as confirmation tbh

The only album in-between TTPD and folkmore is Midnights, which was made for IT-pop-girl moment and Eras Tour. Without being tied to making an upbeat pop record and with her heart broken first time in 6 years AND her ability to shift different genres, she can take everything that has ever made her albums great and tie it into THE Taylor Swift album. I want everyone to take in consideration that her best breakup album to date is Red, which was written about 3 months relationship and released more than 10 years ago. With this record, we have 6 years relationship, her lyric abilities improved by 10+ years and ability to shapeshift genres freely. TTPD is gonna be new cultural classic and I'm here for it. Well i dont doubt her lyric abilities, as shes proven on folkmore she can still write amazing lyrics whenever she wants The bigger concern are the melodies and ESPECIALLY the production.. which were both just so amazing on Red ( the melodies are also the reason why i love the Red vault so much because you can clearly hear the Red-esque melodies in them) And the production was the biggest turn off for Midnights for most of us who didnt like it that much (and before the Jack stans come for me, yes i know he has produced multiple career highlights which all sound different etc etc but still his sound is getting stale..) Though i HOPE that he proves me wrong and comes up with completely new production on TTPD (real organic instruments pls) Edited March 11 by TaylenaStan 3
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Mastermind'... Jack & Lord at their most annoying again, they really went with a 'more is more' approach. Some of the most loudly unpleasant production details of Her career. "I'm only cryptic and Machiavellian 'cause I caaaare" almost saves the sing but not quite The 9-13 stretch on Midnights is very poor by Lord standards 1
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'The Great War' - very cute, endlessly listenable sing. Doesn't add much to Her discography, it's kind of Lord on autopilot but it's a very good autopilot. There is something slightly staid about the chorus melody but we can overlook it. It's like a vastly superior version of 'Afterglow' I guess 1
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Bigger Than The Whole Sky'... sorely missing a bridge. Why bother ever listening to this when 'Sad Beautiful Tragic' exists 2 1
vale9001 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 This next album is gonna be like Red I feel. Some of the songs are going to be just pop (not teen pop but still very pop). Some of them are gonna be very mature and not radio friendly. When someone says red "on steroids" (or Better definition would be a boosted Red) It's not for the lyrics cause she already made imo that after Red but more like It's gonna be an album without a specific sound but a Red with a more complex and mature sound both for the pop and both for what is more sophisticated. 1
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Paris' bringing some much-needed energy to proceedings and kicking off the best stretch of the ablum A heady, irresistible confection! When will the world be ready for a conversation about 'sit quiet by my side in the shade / and not the kind that's thrown / I mean the kind under where a tree has grown' alludes to the 'shade' in YNTCD being about how living in the shade/the closet doesn't make you less gay And the bridge changed the world forever I wanna transport you To somewhere the culture's clever Confess my truth In swooping, sloping, cursive letters What's not clicking?
Kern Posted March 11 Posted March 11 ‚Tonight We Cross Kern / Killer Kern’… the epic title doesn’t live up to the basic production but lyrics is what saves this sad sing. It kinda reminds All Too Well but it’s not a classic 9
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'High Infidelity'... I like the strangely cyclical energy of this sing. The way it's broken into little segments that repeat but subtly shift throughout the sing. There are LAYERS to this sing. Almost maddeningly catchy, even before She adds the final victory lap of Dorothea/Starlight-esque "ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh"s. Another sing for the intellectuals

Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Glitch'... oh where do we even start. The sing RADIATES hazy, sweaty humidity. "...and what's in my systemmmmm" "and I'm not even SOrry / nights are so STARry / blood moonLIT" The sexy guitar tones The 2nd chorus in the higher register The glitch at the end of the bridge The way the "blood moonlit" harmonised adlib is the best moment of Her career Not a moment wasted in this perfect sing. A career highlight, a sing like no other in Her discography. We clap and we cheer. 2

Sounwave did that my only complain is that its a bit too short which makes it feel demo-y but still an underrated song
