If every song sounded like the 1989 (TV) bonus tracks, I would be happy.

Those are my most played Taylor songs atm.

That's what Midnights is

The fact she's been working on this for at least two years (because if she kept it a secret for two years, that means it was either nearly done or at a very advanced stage at this point) makes me want to believe it will be in the folklore/evermore realm. Like our girl released a pop album to show everyone she still got it, and now she's back to where she left off.

But at the same time, the cover really doesn't give that vibe so I don't really know what to think.

Whatever it is, I'm certain it's been way more polished, revised and edited than Midnights. It's going to be a masterpiece. :jonny5:

I see it like this: folklore and evermore let her scatter Joe tea across the "fictional" songs, then re-recordings started and suddenly paused 'cause of the SIO trial + SN trademark, so she decided to make the Eras Tour and she needed a big pop comeback album to make some noise, so she made Midnights.
But aside of Midnights she was writing TTPD, which is almost like folklore, but this time she's gonna go hard on Joe and make this album not fictional, but poetic. She's no longer challenging herself to prove that she can make good lyrics. She knows that she can and she will use her pen as a sword :clap3:
Midnights was for hype and fun, but now she's about to serve real ART from the same timeline.

For the biggest pop star in the world im gonna need her to experiment and give us SOMETHING with some edge, some kick. Something spicy. Like she's at a point where she can literally do any sound she wants without any repercussions. Plus she owes us after making the most bland/beige album that is Midnights (and Evermore like cmon).

Like PLEASE! If this woman is gonna be the center of pop (which is honestly so sad...........:rip:) she needs to shake things up. Like her fans will literally eat anything she does so like....give us a trip hop album or something. Vaporwave or some Charli XCX pots and pans ****. Collab with ARCA.

As I said earlier, Midnights is not clear, we have a lot of gaps and it's kinda confusing. TTPD is gonna fill these gaps and give us some answers.

If she started working on the album two years ago, that means she was working on it while still with Joe? Maybe the album will literally chronicle the demise of their relationship and eventual break-up

I see Midnights and TTPD as spiritual sister albums. Both live in the same universe. Even with the vibe of the album cover having a thick white border and the photoshoots giving off similar vibes so far.

We need the songs to serve You're Losing Me type songwriting!

Anyway y'all, I'm going to stick my neck out and make a first round of predictions for the debut sales:

1.1-1.2M vinyl (assuming she actually has 1M vinyl up for sale on the US site, and then assuming 100k limited edition vinyl for Record Store Day, which just so happens to be that Saturday and maybe another regular 100k vinyl from other retailers)

300-400k CD/Cassette from her website and other retailers

250-300k digital from her website and iTunes

450-500k SEA (Midnights did like 430k, and I'm not sure if this will have the same streaming longevity, but I think it'll have a slightly better debut [200M on Spotify, anyone?])

For a range of ~2.1-2.4M

:clack:

keep in mind that I held firm on 1M for 1989 AND for Midnights from the start while y'all were doubting  :gaycat4:

For me personally it just confirms that Midnights was more or less done after Lover but before Folklore. And you can hear it in the 3AM tracks where there's a shift in writing. I think she always planned the re-recordings to be a 3 album trilogy (like... isn't this her last album under her current contract?) with two re-recordings for each album.

I remember someone saying Folklore and Evermore didn't count for her Republic contract (and I might be wrong) but I wondered how it would affect the broader concept. Then she fully committed to Midnights, which in my opinion was great just not what anyone expected after Evermore. I think the new album will be like a pop version of Folklore, the 3 AM tracks but in a different sound.

I am a bit concerned that she might be headed for an over-exposure moment.:dancehall: (Not that I want that to happen).

society has a tendency to say “okay, that’s enough” when an (usually female) artist gets a lot of acclaim/success for a long time…. GP already seems to be upset about Mid winning AOTY:gaycat7:

she should release the rest of the re-recordings in 2025 and let TTPD breathe this year

when the album chronicles struggling with Joe, their breakup, processing it, learning how to do coke with matty, to getting dicked down by a football player :jonny6:  the most relatable album of all time???

Yeah I don't think it is as complicated as some people are trying to make it

It's just that she hadn't broken up publicly and didn't want to release those songs.

Wasn’t the one with “loml” first? It seems more like they decided to delete one just to make it fit after realizing that The Manuscript was already announced.
