Option two. I really wanna see what her current star power would do for a lead single's Spotify debut numbers.
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Let's listen to Midnights, a very good Lord ablum Melodically and lyrically 'Lavender Haze' belongs on Lover - it's a strangely throwaway, nothing-y sing with very little personality. Like a first attempt She would usually go back and rewrite. But the production is soooo deep and expensive, one of the crispest sounding sings in Her discography. Between this and 'Glitch', Sounwave has added such a new and distinctive sonic layer to the Lord's discography that I hope She explores more. The 'nothing-y' element to 'Lavender Haze' also strangely works in the context of the sing (about a very nothing-y relationship) and the ablum (very enigmatic and ghostly)
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Maroon'... oh we all remember where we were. The Out Of The Woods-esque cinematic, forensically detailed verses "The mark they saw on my collarbone / The rust that grew between telephones" I - The drone throughout the track that sounds like the sky ripping open The relentless surge into "And I wake with your memory over me" How weary, empty and desolate She sounds in the last chorus When She sang this on Karlie's birthday, the world shifted on its axis 1
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Anti-Hero' - this sounded so amazing when it came out, now very meme-y and embarrassing I'm worried about adult Anti-Hero fans, they should be over that by now etc. 3

Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Snow On The Beach' a celestial, opulent sing for intellectuals. Has aged like fine wine. The 'it's coming down it's coming down it's coming down' coda is so beautiful, jailtime for removing it from the more Lana Del Rey version 2

It was a challenge in the summer of 2015 to not hear Bad Blood on the radio Bad Blood being the song in question should’ve clued her in that the relationship was doomed from the beginning 2
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'You're On Your Own, Kid' the 'Teenage Dream' of the 2020s, right down to the guitar tone, oh it's so true. Wistful perfection
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 "my boy was a montage / a slow-motion, love potion / jumping off things in the ocean" The vocal delivery to end all vocal deliveries In Her sensual r&b bag. A quintessential enigmatic Midnights sing, tangled in a web of allusions 1

The only album in-between TTPD and folkmore is Midnights, which was made for IT-pop-girl moment and Eras Tour. Without being tied to making an upbeat pop record and with her heart broken first time in 6 years AND her ability to shift different genres, she can take everything that has ever made her albums great and tie it into THE Taylor Swift album. I want everyone to take in consideration that her best breakup album to date is Red, which was written about 3 months relationship and released more than 10 years ago. With this record, we have 6 years relationship, her lyric abilities improved by 10+ years and ability to shapeshift genres freely. TTPD is gonna be new cultural classic and I'm here for it. 3

Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 The international implications of 'Question...?' have still never truly been fathomed. Just completely unhinged mental illness, I am still surprised She put this on the standard version, it has a very 3AM energy. Such a subtly infectious sing, it never gets old. A sing for only the most advanced intellectuals. 1 2
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) The way I hated 'Vigilante Sh*t' for so long and now love it Again very subtly addictive. There's something very minor and understated about a lot of Midnights sings which has helped them age well. I guess it's no coincidence that the most brash/bombastic sing ('Anti-Hero') has aged the worst Edited March 11 by Great Username 1
Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Bejeweled'... we're leaving it in 2022. Lord & Jack leaned into all their most annoying tendencies with this one.

Great Username Posted March 11 Posted March 11 'Labyrinth' has some gorgeous sonics but it doesn't quite manage to hold together as a sing. Lyrics are too slight/awkward. Needed a bridge. Always felt like it had grower potential, but it's been a a year and a half at this point, time to hang it up I fear 1

She submitted midnights in February of 21 I believe? So who knows when she submitted this one. Would not surprise me if she submitted end of last year and then went to the studio to record a digital deluxe or ts12. I’m more so assuming he’s on the album because of the filter.
