That's not what people here think or what was said about midnights here for a long time when it was criticized for being "a regression" when it was completely different sounding than folklore/lover/rep

reading posts, people are mostly saying "bombastic pop" and I know that doesn't just mean pop, but the big opinion here is happy songs with max which is what I'm saying isn't as great as people are building in thier heads, especially when she gets criticized by her fans about having to change her sound/producer each album, midnights was amazing to me so her going back to pure sugar pop is just a preference I have that I dont want, to me that would be regression

i don't necessarily want her to go back to the EXACT same type of pop that was on 1989 (tho more styles are always welcome :gaycat3:), but i would like TS12 to:

  • bring the energy up
  • be more tonally fun, in the vein of 1989/lover, cause i imagine she's been very happy as of late, but also cause folkmore-ttpd are obvs not in that vein :rip: the good sis can be cheeky and funny! and with girls like sabrina, olivia, and chappell bringing that back, i'd love for her to go there again
  • bring new writers/producers into the fold - she doesn't have to abandon jack and aaron, but i'd appreciate if it was at least 60-40 jack+aaron to new collaborators
  • ig have her compositions be grander/looser? part of that is just jack and aaron's songwriting/production styles, but also, i just would like the songs to sometimes linger more!! longer intros, more instrumental moments where the songs can breathe, beautiful outros...stuff like that
  • genre-wise, i wouldn't be mad if she necessarily technically stayed in the synthpop realm, but i'd love to see her go either further into pop-rock, or into more electronic sounds, as high risk as that sounds :deadbanana2: but idk i want her to take a big swing!

Oh this TEA :clap3:

Some other people/groups I'd really love to produce with her, whether on TS12 or further in the future; Beach House, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Jeff Bhasker (he was such a HIT maker of the 2010s, they would make magic once again), and some other alt pop-rock producers. Whoever works with Wolf Alice for example (haven't checked to see who it is dd). I also want her to work with Imogen again.

I will say that I've been on the #NeverMaxAgain team for a few years now but nowadays I wouldn't mind a reunion between them (plus Ilya & Payami please?) just for a few songs. Like 2 or 3, and only if they are at the top of their game. Ryan Tedder and Greg Kurstin as well, in the way of pop producers. And most of all: I want her to let Patrik Berger fully produce a couple bangers with her.

Obviously I do love Jack/Aaron but after the length of TTPD I hope they take a backseat next time. Perhaps Jack on like 3 songs and Aaron on 1.

The visionaries we are !!! Literally love everything here, successfully mapped out her 5th AOTY win methinks

As we are about to start autumn, I feel like this album will encapsulate the autumn feeling - falling leaves, chilly sunsets, moody walks... I can feel it.

I mean... Down Bad, loml, The Prophecy, The Albatross, The Alchemy, The Black Dog, Peter, I Hate It Here, So Long London and many more are perfect autumn songs. Can't wait to have my walks with falling leaves and crying over the above songs. Fortnight also fits the season. Ugh I will never get over this album!!! Folklore and Evermore better move!

lately i've been enjoying Midnights a lot more than i used to. TTPD definitely helped filling in the gaps on Midnights where she left them vague delibrately or she herself was unsure of her feelings on the situation at the time.

I bet this sounds so wrong but TTPD and Folklore sound like summer albums to me. :rip:

Like sizzling, hot summer.

Folklore feels like the perfect music for a hot summer day to me and TTPD is the perfect companion for those nights. LOVE IT.

I feel like folklore is a summertime sadness album too. But I'd switch them around, I'd listen to TTPD on a hot summer day, folklore on a hot summer night/cloudy summer day and The Anthology is very autumn, just like evermore and Red.

The more I listen to this album, the more I realise this is the rock album that I have been wanting from her

No. Before you come to me and say 'bUtT buUUT BUut the SyNtHS:isudumblmao:' No. Just because there are synths on an album or Apple Music categorises it as 'pop' doesn't automatically make it pop. And rock means a lot more than just oRgaNIc iNsTrUmeNTS.

You can tell Jack and Taylor (and Aaron) have done their homework and there are a lot of subtle (and non-subtle) reference to a lot of rock elements in the album. But, by all means, be my guest and cling to the 'folkmore is much more superior' narrative (evermore was my favourite album of hers until this one. Like she really outdid herself this time.)

Yeah i would love to see ali payami, shellback and max martin back and some new producers like kirkpatrick, cirkut and the producers of flowers and as it was. Then she can balance the album with 2 to 3 songs by antonoff synth pop please. Also work with new fresh producers but not a joel little level prod. Greg kurstin would be nice. I just need a full on singles era again no only 1 lead single then album era. It makes the era feel shorter also justice to Midnight Rain, Bejeweled and YOYOK. Could have been number ones and make the era even more memorable.

On the one hand I want big imperial pop but I was thinking that the orange dance pop album could be TS13 and it will make a big era like 1989/Teeange Dream while TS12 could be something similar in sound to Endless Summer Vacation/Harry's House in sound and would be a great transition from TTPD to TS 13 Super POP

I kinda like the idea of a proper big imperial pop moment but tbh I'd love another alt-lor era. she wasn't doing these monster sales but her image, reception and overall perception as artist was a lot better, and as much as I like this album it isn't touching folklore and evermore at all.

... a LOT of this album is "alt-lor", what are you talking about? :rip:

Also, do you not realize that the reason her image and reception are not "better" is because people are judging her based on her extreme fame and not on her actual music? Seriously, read the mixed reviews for TTPD, it's nothing but personal attacks about her perceived "wrongs" in her personal life and extreme nit-picking over some lyrics. Taylor isn't the problem here, people's weird bias against her is.

We already had 3 alt-lor eras. Enough is enough:khalyan:

They absolutely are for me too. Peak heat too.

Its cooling down here as fall approaches, so I'm listening to Midnights (which I associate with like rainy autumn into winter) and Red (obviously fall!) more.

Yesterday it was in the 90s so I listened to TTPD.

Listening to The Bolter and the only thought in your mind is: Where melody?

Praying for you! :wave2:

Look the songs on TTPD are sumptuous and the melodies' gorgeous. That said, I want another high octane, high bpm pop songs like New Romantics, Cruel Summer, blank space, style with verses, choruses and bridges to be all-around excellent. Also 5 to 7 singles era, dont care about overexposure i need a 1989 era again. A decade later would be iconic to replicate or surpass that era.
