Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'

I absolutely adore TTPD and everything about it, but I must admit that I want her to release another cohesive, tightly put together album without adding all of the songs she's made in the process of making the album. Even though I love the anthology with my whole heart (it has some of her best songs btw), but I think it should've been released as another project for later.

Her albums are feeling very bloated as of late and I feel like that's why her eras are feeling a little all over the place.

TTPD is still her best pop album and top3 in her discography.

I feel sorry you don't get My Boy and Down Bad babe. Truly truly sorry

Also you can't say that the LH -> MR run is flawless when SOTB is right in the middle and is an even more nothing song than Robin. :ryan3:

But drag the title track again for me please :ryan3:

My Boy is an always skip for me. So cringe.

SOTB is ******* great.

I fear for pushback but it must be said :ryan3:

I'm not an Obsessed Hater by any means but I think the balance between the lyrics and production makes it just above average that's not to say I didn't give it a 9 in the discography rate, because I did :ryan3:

The way I do not understand the obsession with the opening run of Midnights because I think at least half of the first 6 tracks are at or below the average point for the album, and no I will not be naming which tracks these are for personal safety reasons :ryan3:

but lets just say they're not Maryoon, Amen-Hymn, or Messiah's Reign :suburban:

I guess my tea on YOKO is that I love the lyrical sentiment but the production is basically The Archer if she took all the parts I didn't like about The Archer and made them worse and more prominent and then also took out all of the production elements in The Archer that I do like:ryan3:

And no, I will not be taking comments on this opinion, because I know some of y'all love that song :ryan3:

I think this is less to do with how many tracks are on an album vs just how many albums she's put out in the last 5 years.

Since Lover (5 years): 8

Normal 5 year period: 2-3

Midnights is much better than TTPD. The run from LH to MR is flawless.

TTPD already starts with shitty songs like My Boy, Down Bad, Title Track, etc.

The fact that she ignored Lover's 5th anniversary and didn't announce a deluxe… why? :deadbanana2:I understand not announcing new re-recordings (cuz TTPD is still new) but like it was the perfect time to announce that deluxe (especially since Need is still not officially released). It would've also propelled the album back into the top 10 of the Billboard 200

What with swiftie thinking there are only 5 producers for taylor to choose from??? :clack:

If there were only five producers in the room (Max, Jack, Aaron, Shellback, and Louis Bell), Max with his outdated production and cliche pop melodies would be the last I would pick.

I admit that he's produced some of the best pop records of the last couple of decades, but his time is almost inevitably over. He hasn't produced a solid album since 2020 and before you start, I think eternal sunshine is something any other producer could make.

She has the most opportunities of any other artists to work with some of the greatest and most talented musicians in the world.

She needs to work with Markus Dravs, Paul Epworth, Greg Kurstin, and Blake Mills.

Where did you guys get this impression that artists are supposed to celebrate every album's anniversary? It's crazy that every fan base keepa expecting this whenever it's multiple of 5 anniversary

It didn't feel that way when she dropped two albums, each consistent of 17 songs, in the span of 4 months.

I personally wouldn't mind if she waited until 2026-27 to drop TS12.

Once the tour is over, and the rerecordings are all out of the way, I hope she comes back with a perfect body of work with its own era.

I'm grateful, but also tired of her dropping music and then ignoring it and moving onto her next project.

Also the rerecordings need to be done by the end of 2025. I need both rep TV and debut tv as surprise drops, preferably as a double release.

Max is the greatest pop producer ever, he made hits for Britney, N Sync, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor swift, The Weeknd etc.. he is a pop maestro and created and sustained careers for the biggest pop artists of  all time. If u need a commercial hit, he's the guy to go to.

But then, if she wasn't gonna celebrate and release a deluxe, why didn't she release Need last year, alongside AOTGYLB? She keeps it in the vault for something :michael:

notice how all the pop hits you're alluding to are at least 5 years old???

He hasn't made anything revolutionary since the administration of trump

It's a pity that TTPD is her album with longest weeks at #1, but likely won't have long-lasting legacy like 1989 or Fearless

well the songs are not very commercial. my boy, down bad, guilty as sin and high school could work on radio but it would need massive airplay to leave a mark. I can do it could have stayed a fan favorite it didnt need the single treatment.  Also no groundbreaking music videos and a lack of push after release week really sealed its fate. Variants aside it was very uneventful...

I am very much expecting ts12 to sound like Sabrina's album .. a return to fun catchy pop songs with some twang here and there. I don't think we are getting the disco dance floor album until she's 40

Manifesting: TS12 is So High School x Guilty As Sin?

We're getting guitar and drums. Sabrina's sound can stay where it is! :gaycatina1:

You're right :giraffe:

And Alison is just pretending they don't exist because she wanted her little "I'm on tour" single to do its thing despite being annoying and not a good choice, no matter what the numbers on Spotify are saying :heart2:

Her in an acknowledging potential smash hits competition:

I just had a vision that "The Eras Tour: Part 2, the Re-Up" starts with her going: "oh, here we go again!" and I got chills
