This is what I never understood!

she's the biggest artist in the world, why wouldn't she be able to be given playlisting by the label?

All they know how to do is release remixes that would amount to the same streaming units as just pushing it up the playlist

I guess it's because of her owning the masters/contract agreements with Republic, so they could be less invested to payola her music since they are not getting the big cuts.

Her songs are already super theatrical and the eras tour is basically a Broadway show masquerading as a pop show, especially the ttpd set. 

The drama a boadway voice would add to her lyrics and melodies.

Track 5s aren't about being "sad" or having sad piano notes. They're about vulnerability. Delicate (a bop), The Archer, both are track 5s and rightfully so. So Long London is the epitome of specific, personal vulnerability. loml is pretty vague in comparison.

So Long London works as the track five . It's emblematic of one of the main themes of the album, youth and years waisted over a relationship that amounted to nothing and how that started her spiraling out of control.

I Hate it Here has the folklore magic in it. Love this song so so much.

 

I relate to it living in dumpy west coast big cities :(

Just one more thing that I absolutely adore about this album is her mastery of the extended metaphor. Specifically on songs like Down Bad and Fresh Out the Slammer. I've been going through her discography and realized that it's kind of rare for her to dedicate an entire song to just one metaphor. She's already proven her proficiency with anecdotal songwriting from the beginning (ATW, Enchanted, Last Kiss, Style, Delicate, Cardigan, etc.) but in every section of Down Bad/Fresh Out the Slammer she incorporates the bigger metaphor of getting abducted and abandoned or the freedom of getting released from jail. It's a tactic I'd love to see her use even more

She absolutely is able to do it, she/her label are choosing not to do it for some weird reason. The same thing happened with Cruel Summer, it was smashing but it wasn't that high on TTH.

i can do it with a 1989 heart is an official radio single here and made her best debut week ever (inside the top 30 on week 1).

I don't get if it's international or only in selected countries. It is officially the new global single?

no, it's only in italy. but all small movements points towards official announcement at one of the shows in milan

I live in a very small village and I still can relate to it. I think that and The Prophecy are the songs I relate to most at the moment.
