Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'

There's an obvious "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" influence in songs like But Daddy I Love Him, The Albatross, The Prophecy, I Look In People's Windows, and I Hate It Here. That along with the general 90s rock/ 90s alt Pop/ 90s Goth in songs like Fresh Out The Slammer, Guilty As Sin, Florida, I Can Fix Him, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, Loml, Clara Bow, So High-school, How Did It End, and The Bolter is the direction I want TS12 to be :jonnycat:.

can we talk about her vocals for one second?

i notice that her mic is always very close to her mouth in order to sound clearer and louder but do yall think she has to do that cuz her resonance is pretty much nonexistent and thus her vocals sounds weak and flat live?

when i look at vocalists, they move their mics far away when they belt so that they hit the notes without sounding extremely loud.

i mean she sounds much better now but there's still space for improvements.

I think she's got decent/good resonance in the lower register, but not so much in her high register. And since belts are obviously in her higher register... yeah.

For the mic thing though, to me it's all down to the sound mixing. I didn't notice the high notes being much louder than the lower ones when I was in attendance, but I might be wrong.

Overall I agree she can still improve vocally, but I'm optimistic about that because it's clear she improved A LOT over the last 3-4 years. It's obvious she keeps on training (and she must have had pretty intense vocal training leading to The Eras Tour because otherwise her voice would be gone by now), so I'm sure she'll just keep getting better. It's wild to compare her vocals now to even the Rep tour/Lover promo cycle.

'Cause I'm a real tough kid, I can handle my ****
They said, "Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it" and I did
Lights, camera, ***** smile, even when you wanna die
He said he'd love me all his life
But that life was too short
Breaking down, I hit the floor
All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting, "More"
I was grinning like I'm winning, I was hitting my marks
'Cause I can do it with a broken heart (one, two, three, four)

People healed that day :WAP:

This is probably the last 100k+ week for the album (unless of Anthology CDs but that's another story)

The chart is too competitive now anyway, she might as well wrap this era up. Her folklore, evermore era indeed.

personally, i find her vocals now are weaker than her rep tour's vocals. the don't blame me high notes show that pretty clearly. we have studio edited versions of both tours and rep tour sounds better and fuller, her high notes there sounds a lot more satisfying than whatever she does for eras tour.

her low notes now tho  :clap3: she's killing it

I wouldn't be using edited versions to determine the vocal growth of an artist.

The Don't Blame Me high note had no support whatsoever on the Reputation tour, that's actually one of the most notable improvement on Eras.

Objectively, her vocals in this tour are better than the ones on Rep :michael:. She just pushed more to go up a little more on the DBM note onnRep tour, but she does it more effortlessly now and it's supported, same with all her other high notes on the tour. She's also singing everything she's avoided on rep tour here and she sounds great. Ready for it alone proves you wrong.

I think her voice was just very tired (or she was sick) at the end of the US leg when she recorded the tour film. You can even hear during her speech that something is altered.

Listen to the direct feed to see the difference. On rep tour songs like King Of My Heart are half lip syncing. On eras she's singing every single word with so much ease.
