Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'

Cassandra is such an underrated gem :'( I get she isn't a standout thematically or in terms of her melody etc but it just really captivates you if you hear it as a standalone song without even associating it with Taylor. It almost sounds like a song from a Broadway soundtrack or something. It just hits a certain spot

Love Megan but she is actually challenging TTPD this week. TTPD will likely do around 95k-105k this week and Megan's album will actually be within range (prob around 80k). She has the BET awards lined up and her streams increased on day two. She may snatch if Taylor doesn't maybe ship some of the acoustics this week. Even a 5k sales hike with acoustic CDs could help enormously to solidify that 11th week at #1.

I can't believe she's not going to make The Alchemy or Down Bad singles. What a waste of potential hits.

11th week is locked, HDD didn't even bother with an article on saturday which means that new releases are barely scratching top 20, let alone top 10…

But with Zack & Eminem back to back and the last variants getting shipped this week, it will take for her to drop Anthology on physicals to get another week at the top, otherwise TTPD will be stuck at a 3-way tie for her longest #1 with Fearless & 1989.

You know, i almost decided to log-out of ATRL for good, due mostly to the fact that Selena has starved the fanbase for 3 years and counting apart from a yearly 10 episodes of a pretty good TV Show and 2 songs a year, but apart from that i listen to You Need To Calm Down because it kept popping up on my autoplay and i thought hey, you know what, i enjoy being on the internet comparing all the girls who are killing it. Sure, do i wish i could get my threadmaking rights back? Yes i think about this often. But hey, maybe sitting back and not being in control of absolutely anything is best.
Apart from that well hey, TTPD still sorta slaps and i'm waiting for rep TV.
Let me stream Down Bad and So High School a bit.

As a Swiftie and a Hottie, the only person I'd be okay with dethroning Taylor is Megan. :clap3:However, I really don't see Megan's album being a threat to TTPD, honestly. It's definitely going to be Zach and Eminem that might be the only artists to take the top spot away.

Also, can we talk about how of the 4 original variant tracks:

The Black Dog > The Albatross > The Bolter > The Manuscript

Obviously The Black Dog is an all time song from her, but The Albatross is heavily slept on. It would've fit perfectly on Evermore (and is actually better than almost half of Evermore, which is saying something as there isn't a bad song on that album).

oh Clara Bow acoustic is GORGEOUS. it actually sounds a lot like Bette Davis Eyes, I'm just realizing. same chords?

lol all of Megan’s projects have gone top 10 since 2019. I doubt Megan’s pure sales are enough to dethrone TTPD though

Not Trisha in the comments stanning. Everybody tuned in. :dies:

But seriously, it is nice to see Taylor so happy and celebrated by her partner. I was at the first two London shows and saw Travis up close. He's even more handsome IRL. :gaycat2:

Her smash albums (Fearless/1989/TTPD) average around 11 weeks at the top. TTPD might go slightly above that but still. Doable but a slow process imo. It also depends on how many new albums she's going to release moving forward.

Posted

even if TTPD does "only" 11 weeks at #1, it's still batshit CRAZY for anyone this far into their career to be doing double digits numbers at #1

Spoiler

not to mention she did this TWICE already :gaylorcat2:

I could see it happening long term but that will take 10-20 years unless she manages to remain at her current level of popularity and productivity which is pretty much impossible.

Yeah I also think she will overtake The Beatles but it'll take a while, which is totally expected. The fact that it's even possible is nuts. I'm sure she has one more smash album on the TTPD level (10+ weeks at #1) in her. Plus, even once she stops getting hit singles or being a "current" artist, I wouldn't be shocked if she manages to still have some truly smash albums. Like folklore, lucky timing and some tactics to get more weeks on top. Obviously she'll still have huge albums for the rest of her career, but I'm talking relative to her astronomical standards.

I hope they manage to get TTPD to at least 12 weeks once Eminem's release has calmed down. Jimin and Stray Kidz are releasing the week after, so there's also that. Literally all they need to do is have Anthology CDs printed, it's so low effort and would sell a lot… lest we forget she sold like 200k CDs of Midnights version 73837295 in one city :suburban:
