1989 Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The Prophecy/Long Story Short mashup has me thinking many thoughts 1
BloodLuster Posted June 3 Posted June 3 been away because I've been having a HITnights resurgence (Labyrinth is still so good yet so underrated ) but Fortnight finally hit me. you really need to let it grow to see all those subtle details. less is more indeed 3
stjosephprey4us Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to do this, but with all the new variants, I'm really having trouble nailing down what songs I'm missing and which I'm not (I'm a completionist so this has been triggering my OCD a bit ). This is what I know of (since Lover): 1. Christmas Tree Farm Amazon Exclusive Old Timey Version (now on streaming) 2. cardigan voice memo demo (not on streaming) 3. willow voice memo demo (not on streaming) 4. Willow 90s trend remix (now on streaming) 5. Anti Hero acoustic (now on streaming) 6. Lavender Haze acoustic (now on streaming) 7-9. Midnights Target bonus tracks (only Hits Different is now on streaming) 10. You're Losing Me (now on streaming) 11. Sweeter than Fiction TV Target vinyl exclusive (still not on streaming) 12. ****! acoustic (still not on streaming) 13. BDILH acoustic (still not on streaming) 14. Guilty as Sin acoustic (still not on streaming) 15. Down Bad acoustic (still not on streaming) I am wondering a) if anyone has or knows where I can find a more complete list (I know I am missing some live versions, remixes, and some more voice memo demos, esp from TTPD) [im not asking for the files, just the list of the items] and b) if anyone has any idea if the stuff that is still not on streaming (STF TV, acoustic versions, live versions, and voice memo demos) will ever be added? it seems like at some point she cared about adding at least the acoustics to streaming, but idk if that fell off a bit
4Real Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Fortnight lacks emotion, even a song as slow as The Manuscript (which i love) has more punch than it 1 1

Fortnight was one of the ones that admittedly took me a minute to get into and understand why it both opened the album and was the single, but it's clicked now, and it honestly couldn't be a more perfect opener. 2
Nein Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Fortnight packs a punch, idk what are y'all talking about. The muted sadness already starts with line one "I was supposed to be sent away, but they forgot to come and get me". Like I don't wanna sound like a cupcake but I can already hear the tint of sadness in it 7 1

Kyle-x Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Oh and there's also All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (Live Acoustic) that was the live performance done at the premiere for the film, it was available on both iTunes and her website for a little bit and then taken down 2

Cleanromantic Posted June 3 Posted June 3 No taylor song will ever lack emotions cause she's a master at emoting, and certainly not fortnight. All my mornings are mondays stuck in an endless February I took the miracle move on drug, the effects were temporary 8 1

NEX Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Fortnight is amazing. The melodies & the delivery are just sublime, honestly addictive. Fortnight's main problem are the production choices in the second half of the track, where the production starts getting clunky and the main synth melody is entirely drowned and inaudible towards the end. The production also starts interfering the vocal melodies, reducing their enjoyability. I get that they were going for some kind of build up and explosion, but it wasn't executed correctly. Those clicks and sparkles don't add anything useful to the song and that's probably what's affecting replayability for a lot of people. 3

Lemon Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Anti-Hero and Fortnight sharing and merging their universe with This Is Me Trying and Dear Reader regarding self deprecation and awareness of being stuck in a rut and how it affects you. 1
Badgalbriel Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The only thing fortnight lacks is a better, more defined, stronger, production. You can see they were inspired by some of the 80s dance-sad production but it never really goes there. Eventually it just turns into another Midnights-sounding song. 3 1 1
