Some thoughts on the album:

- This is really some of her best work for me, it's like her 30s Red but more unapologetically honest and unafraid to ruffle feathers.

- I love how she indulges in songwriting tropes she hasn't really visited since Speak Now. This really shows how much she restricted herself with Midnights, an album that now was clearly made for the GP while this one is made for the fans.

- Songwriting wise this is a return to form to her swiftian Speak Now lyricism. It's more manic, unhinged, overdramatic and morally ambiguous, but it's the same candor she built her career on.

- The album puts puta to shame in dealing with her reputation. She truly doesn't care on here and not pretending not to care like on puta. The biggest evidence of this is her releasing an album this self critical about her most controversial ex at the hight of swift menia. Her calling out and dragging the fan base is something I would like to see more of. Clara Bow is one of her best songs ever and should be the internet's/ atrl's theme song about female celebrities. "The crown is stained but you're the new queen, flesh and blood amongst war machines, you're the new God we're worshipping". No one has said it better.

- OG album > The Anthology. The Anthology has so many highlights, but musically it's very samey and it doesn't follow a well defined theme/ storyline like the OG album.

- On that note, Jack > Aaron on ttpd. Jack had more variety on the og album. I love the weird mixture of 90s pop rock/ synth pop/ baroque pop/ western/ Goth pop on songs like FOTS, GAS, Florida, ICFH(NRIC), WAOLOM.

- Still, there are some songs that could've used a fresh perspective production wise. My Boy could've been so much better if it weren't for sounding straight out of the 1989 vault. The Black Dogs climax could've been so much better if it were made out of electric guitars and drums then synths.

- The only songs I don't use on this album are title track (First verse, pre chorus and chorus are so good but she over did it with the Charlie Puth line and the word vomit bridge), The Manuscript (this doesn't feel like a song. She should've save it for the epilogue) and Thank u Aimee (Casandra did it better).

- I love every other song on here but top 5 from each side:

Guilty As Sin

Fresh Out The Slammer

LOML

But Daddy I Love Him

Down Bad

The Prophecy

I Look in People's Windows

Chloe et.all

The Bolter

Kinda insane that Taylor was sitting on Down Bad, GAS?, Broken Heart, hell, even My Boy and thought Fortnight, one of her most lyrically nonsensical songs ever, should be the lead single.

She was on such a good streak of picking correctly, too. I don't think Fortnight was a disaster of a choice, but I'm surprised it was even in the conversation for the lead single. I guess collab points go a long way. If she lead with Broken Heart it probably would've been a bigger hit than Anti-Hero.

I really like fortnight, it's very 80s Madonna Live To Tell coded :clap3:. It wasn't instant but upon further listenings it grew on me so much.

Fortnight is a great song and I think it works as a lead because of the feat.

I do think they should push the song to peka on radio ASAP and release a second single tho, because it doesn't seem to be doing great on radio.

That being said, I kinda think broken heart would flop on radio, but we will see.

CS increasing on a Saturday and almost top 20 spotify WW again... This just won't die :deadbanana2:

I thought nothing of Fortnight at first but after a month it slowly became my 2nd most played from the OG TTPD, she knew what she was doing:clap3:. Same with Live To Tell, I just checked and it's somehow my second most played Madonna song ever :deadbanana2:

She should have done what bey did for THE/16 C dual lead singles strategy, released broken heart and fortnight as dual lead singles

Fortnight is absolutely the right choice here. None of the other songs will work as singles

She doesn't do pre-release singles anymore.

I think this is kinda objectively questionable haha Fortnight is stalling on radio and streaming while BH is very close in daily streams despite no radio, no video, worse playlisting, and much later track placement. Its social media performance is much better than Fortnight, too.

Don't get me wrong, I like Fortnight but the proof is kinda in the pudding here.

EDIT: Also BH is one of my least favorite tracks on the album, but its performance indicates strong single potential.

People won't ever admit it outside the fan base but this is her best album.

For a controversial opinion inside and outside the fan base I like the first half a lot more than the 2nd one, the only songs I play from the 2nd one is The Bolter, ILIPW, iggyb and maybe sometimes SHS

Republic should push Fortnight to number 1 on pop to extend her record, but then issue Broken Heart with a tour video. Great summer single, too.

Down Bad with a great video and remix can pull a little Karma in the fall.

Not to beat a dead horse, but also just realizing Fortnight will be lucky to significantly outdo (or perhaps even meet) Karma's top 10 residency. On the heels of the biggest Spotify debut ever and her unbelievable hype, I think this was the wrong choice. Thankfully it's a good song and not a stain on her single discography, but they shouldn't be shy about moving on.

I dont think fortnight will surpass or tie karma's top 10 weeks on the hot 100. Fortnight spent only 5 weeks in the top 10 and its expected to leave the top 10 on the next update (tomorrow). Meanwhile Karma spent 9 weeks in the top 10.

I'll tell you something right now
You ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my white boy and all of his white joy

2nd best song on TTPD :WAP:

Also Fortnight's lyrics are ARTPOP, u just don't get abstract ART tenchi-arick.gif

(and neither does the GP, but the instrumental already put them to sleep before they could analyze the lyrics)

The GP wants braindead lyrics like Anti-Zero, & Kidzbop production like Cruel Bummer :pukey:

I must say, I'm really looking forward to Puta getting more panned than it originally was. Not even the "reclaiming her art" narrative is going to work this time now that the critics have turned against her and the popular narrative is that she should just quit music cause she's a millionaire :ryan3:

Aaron upstaging Jack has always been in my Taylor Swift discography bingo card.

He makes it seem so easy. :clap3:

I feel that broken heart will be dead by the time it starts getting airplay and will linger in the top 20. It had this novelty factor and is peaking right now i fear. I dont need another lavender haze. I would have picked YOYOK as the second single tbh. Its got a story, a beat and is emotional.  Broken heart really over My boy and down bad. I dont know man. Fingers crossed it does not pull a lavender haze.

I never got the lead single hate at all, it's a great song: catchy, chill, and introduces you to the album

it's not like it didn't to it's job, the album is still doing ridiculously well, some act as if it killed the album or something
