Folklore89sm Posted May 17 Posted May 17 I like the concept and the verses of Down Bad but I can't stand the chorus. It sounds like a sketch from SNL. 1 1 1

There is no world in which Fortnight isn't a hit and you're just gonna have to deal. I hope she buys her masters back before Rep TV ! Edited May 17 by Mandalore 2

kayliah Posted May 17 Posted May 17 (edited) I think taylor must have a huge IQ look at her rerecordings devaluating her old masters and by the time she's done they will be worth so little that its probably gonna sell for peanuts and then maybe she'll buy them back and get her original artwork, videos etc... just so she owns them. It will be the fans' support that could make that happen. Edited May 17 by kayliah 2
kayliah Posted May 17 Posted May 17 LWYMMD should have won a vma for video of the year over YNTCD and ALLTOOWELL. It is so iconic and one of the best videos of all time next to thriller... 5 2

Arrows Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Fortnight is probably gonna end up on par with IDWLF. A hit collab with super impressive streaming stats, but not that essential to her legacy. It probably wouldn't be on her Super Bowl setlist. 4
fridayteenage Posted May 17 Posted May 17 fortnight narrowly keeps its us spotify record with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th biggest peaks ever all happening at the same time. Fortnight 39.0 million Not Like Us 38.7 million Million Dollar Baby 38.1 million I Had Some Help 35.1 million Good 4 U 31.7 million

Spoiler Though it makes no sense to bring up Kim either but she still did so... 1
Badgalbriel Posted May 17 Posted May 17 (edited) It's funny how her album releases have gone since 'Midnights'. Stage 1: Leak day no one likes the music. It's aways "It's too boring!! Jack, if I catch you" and then a couple of days later everyone is like "damn, this is such a great record, it really is a grower. Maybe Jack is not that bad, look at the lyricism!!". Stage 2: Then you all continue with this mentality for the next few weeks. After a month or two of ONLY listening to the album, some of you start getting tired of it and start finally revisiting her discography again, and then the discourse changes to: "well, this latest album is good, but it has no song up to par with x, y or z on this or that album, it lacks the classics!!!". Stage 3: Then, once it comes to a point where we're all tired of this album like, 4 months after release (cause we're spoiled), we'll act like the album was never that good to begin with and it's somehow in the middle of the discography, when you rank it. And everyone will be like "Jack, when I catch you!!! I'm so tired of his production, Taylor needs to switch it up" and then you start dragging her, pretending you're not rooting for her to win awards, etc. This is exactly what happened with Midnights and it seems like the same is happening to TTPD. We've already started going through Stage 2 right now. A couple of weeks ago I saw many of you saying how this album was the perfect Taylor Swift album and how even THEE evermore was not better than it. Now it's like "well, TTPD is good, but it just can't compare to evermore and folklore you know?" How many weeks till we all start ranking it in the middle of her discography? Also ignoring the fact that Look What You Made Me Poo was released as a "proper" lead single after 3 years off while Fortnight was released simultaneously with 30 other songs on a double album. I like Fortnight, but don't think it'll be one of her great singles. 1 1
TeamThiem Posted May 17 Posted May 17 GAS? is going to overtake BDILH in a week. Could be accelerated if she performed this on tour. A smash to be... 2

That's on Taylor for not releasing Fortnight before the album, when the competition was weaker. It cost her additional weeks at #1. Also, if Taylor had released Fortnight early enough before the album, she may have been able to move on to a 2nd single on album release (which likely goes to #1 on the Hot 100 that week). 2

Girl, I don't think she cares lol. And neither should we. She's clearly favoring the album success instead of singles success since folklore. 3

Yeah but she clearly values dropping the album all at once and its performance overall than pushing singles. Especially this one that was literally made during the busiest time of her life, pre and post release.
Europe Posted May 17 Posted May 17 In light of recent events, this is still the best album of the year. By far. 3

I jumped straight to Stage 2 tbh. Even though I've been playing the album non-stop since release and it's my most played of the year by far, it's just not clicking with me the way I want it to. I'm gonna do a track-by-track review once I feel like I'm familiar enough with it, but ye, at the moment it doesn't even come close to her greatest albums. OOTW came on random last night and I was like "wooow production!!!!" 1
