selena_lavigne Posted May 13 Posted May 13 @wastedpotential @Starchild oh yes, thumbs me down when i'm one of the 10 people that actually watches more than 3 seconds of people's instagram videos. (which may be why my mental health is in shambles )
wastedpotential Posted May 13 Posted May 13 nnn so I guess the threadban for those horny posts was temporary Spoiler 1 hour ago, selena_lavigne said: Seeing people sing these, mediocre at best lyrics, on my Instagram feed is hilarious to me. 1 hour ago, selena_lavigne said: Like girl, come on, cover Fortnight, cover TTPD, cover The Alchemy, cover So High School. 1 hour ago, selena_lavigne said: Which is why i'm not a huge fan of this album because this album is giving folklore but with better song concepts. 1 hour ago, selena_lavigne said: I Can Do It With A Broken Heart is more me, but i'm telling you We Can't Be Friends attempted to rip my soul into several pieces. 39 minutes ago, selena_lavigne said: The most boring thing a fanbase can do in unison is re-arrange a tracklist. Either write me a compelling short-story or keep it. 35 minutes ago, selena_lavigne said: The tracklist is there for a reason. Taylor Swift thinks long and hard about her tracklists. She spent months coming up with a perfect tracklist for her fanbase. And y'all wanna tear it to shreds and re-arrange it? Fine. Fine. 33 minutes ago, selena_lavigne said: Mr. Swiftologist i may watch your videos because you remind me of James Charles and i watched his videos in high school. 4

Red is literally insane, Lover too Just because she INTENTIONALLY makes it insane doesn't make it acceptable I respect her choices but I also exercise my creative freedoms too 2 1
cruelhprince Posted May 13 Posted May 13 tbf TTPD has one of her best tracklists (standard at least) but I agree SLL as the opener would eat 1

They're gonna crucify me anyway What if the way you hold me Is actually what's holy? If long suffering propriety Is what they want from me They don't know how you've haunted me So stunningly I choose you and me ... Religiously i think it's hilarious watching people sing this. Please sing it some more. I would like to request a cover of The Tortured Poet's Department. If you think these lyrics are "hilarious" then you didn't grow up in a religious household with religious trauma. I could write a whole essay on why this bridge is so incredible, but in short: Taylor is choosing love over a hateful, oppressive religion. This might sound simple to someone who grew up with agnostic parents, but I can assure you, when you've been told your whole life that you're going to hell because of who you love, it's unbelievably powerful. A lot of people on this forum, and in the world in general, can relate to this. 2

Do you? I personally do not. So thank you Taylor Swift for spacing out the ballads on your albums most of the time.

Maybe i think it's hilarious that Taylor Swift is making her fans learn and sing songs with advanced english vocabulary and one of my friends is gaining a lot of traction explaining the meaning of these lyrics to people. Cuz i'm sure 99% of people who have heard those lyrics have no idea wtf she's saying. So i would like to request a video explaining the lyrics you just posted so that i can understand them. Speaking of this... I just explained the line "sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see" to a friend yesterday. They were so impressed I knew the meaning to all these words. LOL

LOL I hate that this line is the poster child of her more advanced writing this era though I guess it's the allure of the alliteration. im a lot more partial to "If the glint in my eye traced the depths of your sigh Down that passage in time Back to the moment I crashed into you Like so many wrecks do Too impaired by my youth To know what to do" - Chloe et al. It's not just unconventional diction carrying the quality of the delivery here, it's all the literary components en tandem. Edited May 13 by PoisonedIvy 1
IBeMe Posted May 13 Posted May 13 one thing we gotta give @selena_lavigne is she knows EXACTLY how to get this thread moving! A hit maker I'm afraid Reminds me of @vale9001 in her younger days 5
Mandalore Posted May 14 Posted May 14 (edited) One of the most underrated lyrics imo is in The Prophecy when she says: And it was written I got cursed like Eve got bitten But wait a sec, Eve wasn't bitten, SHE succumbed to temptation and bit from the forbidden fruit. She chose to chase this career, ambition, success, fame. She sealed her fate. Oh, was it punishment? Makes the whole plea even more tragic. Edited May 14 by Mandalore 4

Glancing through this, I do think you did a good job restructuring the album into a cohesive chronological narrative! I like that you considered the songs independently of their presumed inspiration from her life. 1
SharGaga Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Based on streams I'm glad The Prophecy is getting it's flowers with 1M+ updates still. Truly Folklore's misplaced child 4
Mastamaind Posted May 14 Posted May 14 (edited) My sanity is "persona non grata" in this Mastamaind head when in contact with this album. Still spiraling; check on you guys in a little while. Already love the album! Nothing like music-induced Clara Bow style paranoia and misery but so meaningful you're down bad for it, a supernatural experience to be happy in the storm. Btw, (just sharing this personal info this time), I'm in a serious virtual relationship rn, so the pain of this album really hits. Like hard (and soft). Edited May 14 by Mastamaind
