Save me Queen! lol... she came through as always I loved Peter before, but I'll need a while to recover from the cardigan connection she just pointed out... Spoiler I feel so dump for not realizing that it wasn't just a random name 1

Ms. Togekiss Posted May 3 Posted May 3 after a fortnight I can confirm that the only mid songs are I can fix him and cassandra 1
Taylor fanboy Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Peter -> The Bolter -> Robin is still my 1,2,3 punch. She was in her folklore -> Debut -> Evermore BAGS. 3
mael Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I Can Fix Him would have benefited from a tempo change like FOTS and TSMTEL, something a bit faster-paced after the 2:10 mark... imagine a breakdown

RobynYoBank Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Literally dying thinking about the fact that song of the summer Espresso is from the girl who was the subject of the Olivia Rodrigo song that sampled Cruel Summer and is now Taylor's tour opener. Everything feels part of the Swift(multi)Verse nowadays. The cultural nucleus. Edited May 3 by RobynYoBank 9

Achilles. Posted May 3 Posted May 3 The album is now within 10 slots of Loser on my all time charts. It has to breeze through Pop Girl Alley to get there: Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Natalia Kills, Beyoncé, Kacey Musgraves.

This dissection of The Manuscript made me appreciate it so much more I still can barely understand what`s the song is about The manuscript is truly a "what is she yapping about?" moment, even for a fan. I knew there`s some lyrical masterpiece in there but it will take sometimes and some deep dives to get there. For now the song is still a dud for me.
mael Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Cardigan is at least good... She plagiarized Humpty Dumpty on... The Archer... another unforgivable offense from Loser Edited May 3 by mael 2

I knew there`s some lyrical masterpiece in there but it will take sometimes and some deep dives to get there. For now the song is still a dud for me. The Manuscript is basically about how the rerecording process caused her to reflect upon her past experiences, how she wrote about them at the time, and how those feelings have changed over time. Given the lyrics, it seems to be specifically reflecting on All Too Well: Jake was the last older guy she dated before moving on to "boys who were her own age." And the bridge about the actors could be about filming the music video for the song. "The story isn't mine anymore" ties to both her Eras Tour speeches before Lover: "I write these songs and give them to you and you apply them to your own lives" and her older tour speeches about how ATW was such a gut-wrenching song for her until she shared it with us and we made it into such a special thing. It's about how her stories stop being only hers once she shares them with the world. 2
