They just lack taste. Louder for the people in the back!!! The Anthology has some of the best work of her entire career, the mixed reviews for it don't make any sense. 2

Attention spans are shortening every year.

Enrique523 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 1 hour ago, QueenBLadyG said: I was expecting it to have better scores compared to the standard for sure. Attention spans are shortening every year. I think there's 2 reasons why it got mixed reviews: 1) The critics had to review the ENTIRE 31 songs in one go and it can be pretty overwhelming when you don't have the time to fully take the songs in. It took me a few listens myself to really GET the whole body of work and now it's one of my favorites of her entire career. 2) Several critics just decided to be contrarian and wanted to push back against "Swiftmania" because they don't like when a woman is at the top for too long. A lot of the negative reviews have nasty personal attacks against Taylor herself and very little about the music. In any case i think most of those reviews will age very badly, people will look back years from now and wonder how the hell did it get such low reviews. 8
TeamThiem Posted April 29 Posted April 29 The outro to Fortnight is the BEST example of CRACK on this album. 8
skizzo Posted April 29 Posted April 29 While I do like Fresh Out The Slammer, I'm glad Guilty As Sin got the top10 spot instead, I have a feeling it wont be a single so i'm glad it at least reached the top10 1

WeFoundWill Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Im so beyond dumb I just realized Fortnight mirrors Change Of Heart by The 1975 both lyrically and sonically I thought I had a revelation but then I went on YT and saw ppl already drew that conclusion 7 days ago
ALA Posted April 29 Posted April 29 ... I just read the lyrics to loml while listening and cried bye. Devastating song, didn't realize it after all this time nnn 2

Holiest Dreams Posted April 29 Posted April 29 I didn't really get CoSoSoM on first listen… or first few listens. Like, it was an objectively beautiful track but I was not digesting it properly. But now I think it's one of the best, the songwriting is just so amazing. And it's quite Joni-esque melodically, which speaks to me 2
Holiest Dreams Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Also, not her releasing the best two ballads of her career with How Did It End? and Peter I can't get enough of those two, they're just magnificent. I love how stripped back the anthology is with just her vocals, guitar, piano, strings. 2

cruelhprince Posted April 29 Posted April 29 this is her magnum opus fr. I already love the anthology but it just keeps growing on me every day 1
Life Savers Posted April 29 Posted April 29 I mean of course a review that starts with calling her an ecoterrorist is not going to age well. It's already aged like lettuce 1
hypocrateen Posted April 29 Posted April 29 after sitting with this album for so long I found myself hoping she won't care about the critical reception focused on telling her to edit lyrics and tracks down (this album's got some of the best storytelling of her career and a 31 tracks album is BOUND to have "chops" for anyone) and cut ties with jack and aaron... while a change of names would propel her legacy into even bigger territories, she really pushed them (or they all pushed each other) into new sonic ventures (florida, sin?, slammer) here and I ain't mad about it. If she brings someone new/more left field to the table for the next album and jack and aaron jump on board with a smaller share of tracks while still sticking to the overall cohesiveness, it's gonna be fun. 6
MusicLoverDude Posted April 29 Posted April 29 The tracks have grown on me a lot. So High School is still my favorite. Robin is underrated. Beautiful tribute to Aaron's son.

Depends how She wants the act to sound. If more pop, another set seems more acoustic etc . Edited April 29 by vale9001
