And not only is the song fun but the climax is one of the most delightfully petty moments in her discography so far. :celestial2:

And I personally believe she's talking about more than one person anyway. Hanging the neon sign up that it's about Kim is a great way to cloak who else she might be talking about (and thus following through on the promise of changing "any real defining clues")

Over a week later and playing The Prophecy is still like injecting dopamine straight into my brain :jonny2:

It's sad that some of the clunkier lines on the title track distract people from the really good ones "but you're in self-sabotage mode / throwing spikes down on the road / but I've seen this episode and still loved the show / who else decodes you?" and "but you awaken with dread / pounding nails in your head / but I've read this one where you come undone / I chose this cyclone with you" as well as the Dylan Thomas/Patti Smith refrain are soooo excellent and I unfortunately relate to them a little too hard :clack:

Being obsessed with The Alchemy, How Did it end,  I hate it here and can't stop playing…:rip:

I like KaIMee thematically because it's a great showcase of how "moving on" from anything isn't a binary process. Taylor hates Kim and, to some degree, will continue to hate her forever, but she's also healed and gained some perspective, and this gradient is reflected well in the song.

I think people are a bit too dismissive of how the Kimye drama affected Taylor because of how kindly hindsight has shown that it all worked out in her favor. But just because she ended up in a great spot personally and professionally doesn't erase the emotional damage it did to her, nor do I think this should preclude her from ever writing about it.

I also find it amusing how OTHs (and honestly just casual fans) say she needs to move on, when I GUARANTEE those same people have conversations all the time with their friends about some ***** they had tiffs with years ago. That's a part of being alive, it doesn't mean you still hold the same level of anger, but you are allowed to feel some type of way about someone regardless of how long time has passed.

The Tortured Poets Department (song) turned out to be a AAA track after all, and I did not see it coming.

Im glad tik tok currently have the trend using this song to CAPLOCKS and call out their life's aimee.

And most people would agree, if you're wrong me and you're not even ever sincerely apologize and you expect me to move on. No no thats not hows it work.

I was just playing Evermore - literally the first full album I've put on since release - and like, after Tolerate It my brain almost expected to hear The Prophecy. And then I realized there's a pretty interesting thematic connection there - I think I'm starting to form a little bit of an intentional sequence to my cute little Evermore & Anthology playlist. :gaycat3:

I look in people's windows
In case you're at their table
What if your eyes looked up and met mine
One more time

All this talk of the Charlie Puth, golden retriever, and wedding ring lines when the real clunker is this one:

Quote

Sometimes, I wonder if you're gonna screw this up with me
But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave
And I had said that to Jack about you, so I felt seen

Putting all the worst lyrics of the album in the song where she calls herself a modern idiot -- it's camp! :giraffe:

As seen by the awful showing at the Met Gala when the theme was Camp, it goes over people's head quite easily.

I think this album showcased her voice in the best way ever. It has her best vocal performances imo. She's become such a dynamic vocalist it's INSANE. I always felt like she used her voice as best she could and it always conveyed the right emotion etc but now...even her technical skills are top tier imo.

I actually like the golden retriever line, I think the issue is that puth is just not a pleasant word to sing
