Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'

Recommended Posts

Lover had a better chart rub than rep. The fact She was saved by folklore Is real in term of image but commercially speaking lover had already great legs before that. People like It more than rep.

Also LWYMMD was a #1 yeah but ready for It and end game were two flop. you Need to calm down and lover Song were bigger second and third singles so...

With rep we had titles on mainstream magazine like forbes "why Taylor Swift Is not relevant anymore"

Washington post with titles like "Taylor Swift Reputation being Number One Is a symbol of the america of Trump"

Her image was hated for music, for politics and and for everything.

With lover She was already appecciated for the scooter Braun thing and the importance of the move for the industry and for artists, the fact she was finally politically engaged.

People dragging her for me! Being cringe and her coloured hair was a paradise in comparison with what She got during the rep era from media and the press. Let's be serious.

After a week of the album being out I'm going to say evermore is still my #1 from her because it's basically a perfect album, I'm so emotionally attached, it's comforting, and it truly is an escape from reality.

TTPD:TA is sonically volatile, thematically reckless, and lyrically experimental. I love it though. It's Red on crack cocaine in a three way with a wine-drunk evermore and a joint-high Midnights. But for now I'm going to let it settle in as my #2 favorite album from her, because I'll have to see if it ages as phenomenally as evermore has. That album is one for the ages. I'm going to be 87 still riding hard for that one. Good luck TTPD, I'm rooting for you. :chick3:

Somehow this one is just insult to injury, seeing it laid out in black & white like this :ahh:

Lol. I think we also have to remember that Old town road had about 3 remixes when. She released  Me!

During the rep era even Hayley Williams mother liked a tweet dragging her cause She was a coward and politically silent. I said everything :pancake:

The reputa tour did the heavy lifting when it came to maintaining Her presence… snatching the biggest US tour in Her backlash era…

Fortnight is locked for 2nd week at number one in Billboard Hot 100.

#3 Beatiful Things (+12)

Does that mean she has the top 14?

The OG TTPD album is so great :clap3:

Anthology tracks feel like Folklore/Evermore rejects but it's still good, just not as good.

Eras Tour is so sanitized compared to puta or Speak Now tour, ngl. The Disney+ trailer feels too good to be true :rip: It's like documenting a real life Disney princess, with how sterile and pristine everything is :gaycat6:

I think the Anthology is a continuation of that sound but personally, I can't truly group it with those two because their writing is rooted in fantasy and escapism, even if the inspirations are real. Anthology is almost TOO rooted in its real world inspirations, pretty much keeping it out of the folklorian woods in my mind

There in her glittering prime
The lights refract sequined stars off her silhouette every night
I can show you lies

I didn't want to be the one to say it but yes, the production on The Anthology feels tacked on and unfinished… compare any of Aaron's tracks on The Anthology to SLL or loml… the latter are much more polished like the evermore tracks

Willow still has the most offensive guitar riff and melodies. :WAP:

I think it's just really hard to capture the magic of folklore again (which is why it's crazy that she not only captured it a second time but she elevated it, with evermore!) WHICH is why I engage with The Anthology as something -different- from the folk+more eras. The writing and production aren't trying to escape reality, they're crashing headfirst into it!

You're just very biased. Here in Japan EVERYONE knows Ready for it and to an extent End Game, way way way more than every Lover single. Reputation was huge here and so was the tour, Lover had zero impact. In the US she was dragged during Rep AND Lover, I remember people making fun of ME! and YNTCD like crazy. And every Taylor fan I know loves Rep more than Lover.

Anyway Rep is and will always be superior.

i've been saying.

anyone who says TA is better is either lying down or has a hidden agenda. there's a reason didn't put them on the album.

my wild guess is that the alchemy was competing with so high school and imgonnagetyouback for that og tracklist position, but tay knows the alchemy fits the og concept more.

I can't really get over this song. It has to be top 10 of her career... It's SO haunting, I feel drawn to it.

I think this might be my 20th post praising this song :rip:

A lot of the Aaron Anthology tracks feel like demos to me, which is either appealingly raw / unplugged or unfinished-sounding depending on how you look at it

Haven't checked this for a couple days, let me see what's new—

*rep vs Lover a-fawking-gain*

I'm going back to collapsing over TTPD in peace. :gaycat6:
