This is definitively NOT an album you can digest in one go, that's for sure. Which is the reason why it's not reviewing as well as her previous work (that and some reviewers jumping into the "let's hate Taylor" bandwagon of course). Some of the reviews are ALREADY aging like milk :rip:

I wouldn't be surprised if she had the biggest drop of all time percentage-wise next week. But it's gonna have longevity, which is the only thing that matters :hippo:

Then that'll be the second biggest sales week of the year.

when the ariola and hasbayne hives tried to make this jab, this is exactly how they should be responded.

"So Taylor can take a 90% tanking and STILL outsell your fave?!😱😲"

Remember when 1989's 1.2M was her highest first week :deadbanana4: Now she's casually doubling it, 10 years later

Btw: I guess there are 3 cope-guments to make regarding not beating 25, which one do you guys think is the most compelling?

1. "Adele went from selling 3.5m during the iTunes era down to 800k in the Streaming era. that's a 5x decrease, so when you 5x TTPD's numbers she'd get 10M in 2015. That's 3x bigger than 25 adjusted for deflation."

2. "900k/1m vinyls alone grosses more than 3.5M CDs and digitals. TTPD is easily a bigger opener despite doing a smaller number due to the death of sales."

3. "The Sales market is 2.5x smaller today compared to 2015. When you 2.5x TTPD's 1.9M pure sales, it'd get a 4.75M debut adjusted for deflation. All of the sudden that record bloated by iTunes don't look so impressive now does it?"

Btw: I guess there are 3 cope-arguments to throw at regarding not beating 25, which one do you guys think is the most compelling?

1. "Adele went from selling 3.5m down to 800k, that's a 5x decrease from the iTunes era to the streaming era, so when you x5 TTPD's numbers which is set in streaming era, you'd get 10M in 2015. That's 3x bigger than 25"

2. "900k/1m vinyls alone grosses more than 3.5M CDs and digitals. TTPD is easily a bigger opener despite doing a smaller number due to the death of sales.

3. "The Sales market is 2.5x smaller today compared to 2015. If anything, we need to 2.5x TTPD's 1.9M pure sales, which gives it a 4.75M debut adjusted for deflation."

People hiding behind 25's sales to pretend TTPD's sales aren't insanely impressive are not serious people :rip:

Especially since it's the same kind of people who called Adele "boring", "overrated", "why is she the one selling these numbers when our savior Godga is right there",... back in 2015. Most gays on pop forums generally don't like female artists who aren't all about artifice and "yes mama slay" :giraffe:

25 is an anomaly, i'd rather have multiple 1M+ albums and a 2.5M+ album than one album over 3 million :suburban:

Spoiler

well I am not having any of that but the fave i'm living through :WAP:

Not you expecting the #1 Sparks Fly stan to endorse this blasphemous post..

Hits Different, RWYLM, August, New Romantics, Don't Blame Me, Holy Ground, Sparks Fly, get behind ME!

It's my civic duty to call him out for his consistent tastelessness, because he can't keep on getting away with it :sistrens:

And fundamentally, 2015 compared to 2024 is like if 2/3 of the planet has migrated to mars since then. There aren't even enough people left on earth to reach that record.

the way they refuse to acknowledge this, and pretend like there is still enough faculty to make the record happen, it's  just up to Taylor to do it, is so disingenuous. The two numbers never should even be put into the same sentence, it's apples vs oranges.

I guess that's the best argument one could make, without looking like we're trying clown Adele 🤡

It's insane when you actually think about it. WHo would have thought this at the beginning of 2020 when she was releasing The Man as a single

Realistically I wonder if she put The Anthology physicals on sale this week and discounted the physicals/digitals heavily if she'd be able to sell an extra 800-900k? Probably not. So I'm glad she didn't debut any desperation tactics, cause we wouldn't hear the end of it.

i wonder, did Charlie Puth rise in the charts at all lol
