I feel like I'm in the minority here. I really like the production but my issue is her writing and melodies. I feel like she had a better ear for melodies at 18 which is crazy. Everything is just a run on sentence now... she's not even singing half the time.

i kind of get it. for me it's the unnecessary words she chooses. Like "the bolter" sounds like Jack auto generated 50 random words and gave her a challenge to write a song using all of the words.

I Can Do It With a Broken Heart will almost certainly be the 2nd single.

Not when So High School is right there I will die on this hill...

The songs are growing on me but it still doesn't work as an album for me :dancehall:

Like it doesn't even fit the "Tortured Poets" concept I wish she went for something different I would've appreciated it better

Swift's 11th LP will earn 864 million streams in its first week, surpassing the previous record-holder, Drake's Scorpion (746m), by more than 100m.

Holy ISH!

So High School would be the perfect early fall single. Think back to school vibes / start of the NFL season hehe :katie2:

I been saying that too. Like they are not bad, but they are not top tier Taylor Swift level melodies.

My Boy - average melodies with lots of oh-ohs and full of metaphors. Katy Perried lyrics tbh. Katy was always a queen of not being able to put a sentence together without using a metaphor.

Down Bad - very vibey song, but the melodies are also very mid. And the same problem with non stop metaphors.

So Long - also pretty mid melodies. The Archer level Track 5

Slammer - same. Pretty tiring melody. Not bad, but not top tier at all.

Clara is also pretty meh

Side B is miles ahead in the melodic department. And don't get me started on the production. Side B is bright and clear and complements all the songs and her voice shines on top of them. Side A is muddy and muted and her voice drowns in it.

She certainly hasn't lost her melodic sense because there are many strong vocal melodies on this album, even on Side A. But still, there are far too many missteps and boring moments. Midnights > TTPD:main. I know a lot of people would hate to hear this right now while the album is still new and shiny, but we'll see your album rankings in a year or two from now

imgonnagetyouback is giving sleeper hit, like something that could get 4M streams for months if she promoted

Let's see the complaints:

-not actually a tortured poets album

-no melodies

-where are the bops and pop songs

Counterpoint:

-these are poems set to music.
-not written to serve pop music structure because yet again, these are poems

It seems like She is an Apple girl this era? 'Cause She's still owning the top 10.... :rip:

yeah, that's how you know all these random songs by nonamer artists and Khias that are blowing up are rn are not legit.

At least when flowers blew up, it was at the top of every platforms, so how is it that they're top 2-5 on one platform but out of the top 10, lower than 9 album tracks on others?

Explained my thoughts on the album quite well; the bolded three are all skips for me.

And this introduction of autoplay is such a terrible news for the whole TTPD era on Spotify tbh.

All these khia songs wouldn't be doing 1/2-1/3 of their current streams without autoplay or discovery mode or whatever it's called, and yet they're nearing the streams of the new single just dropped by the biggest artist of all time on Spotify? Gtfo of here.

And taylor should start writing checks to Spotify but instead she let fortnight be dropped to #3 on tth instead, so

I don't know at this moment i Remember people here already were calling It MIDnights.

People like this album exactly for what you think are the weaker points cause sounds something different. I can understand you don't like It but fans apprecciate this thing, while midnights for most people was just a reductive and too minimal version of her typical style.

spotify has become too tiktokified, the autoplay feature is the worst thing that's ever happened. it feels so inorganic but i hope taylor takes advantage of it.

YES! It feels like no one's talking about it but it's easily top 3 catchiest on the album. It's been on repeat for me. I wish it would but I just can't see it ending up being a hit
