Klein Posted April 25 Posted April 25 The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived's build up is truly one of the most satisfying thing on this album sonic wise. First the cold rage and then the lash out. DE-LI-CIOUS 10
Lemon Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Album flows so well. It just draws you. Long song don't feel as such. I live for the utter expressionism. 2
ALA Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Oop at imgonnagetyouback being the highest Anthology song yesterday 1

sammyk Posted April 25 Posted April 25 the title song has such a beautiful melody and isn't badly produced, but the "seven bars of chocolate and golden retriever " lines just diminish it. why do this to such a beautiful song? She said to embrace "cringe" and she's showing us how. 1

Maybe it will click for you after a few more listens 1
Nico Robin Posted April 25 Posted April 25 TSMWEL can be lucky to have that bridge/build up otherwise it would be bottom of the rankings

Klein Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Ok, first true ranking of the album, couldn't bring myself to do it sooner. It will without a doubt evolve very fast, but let's have something for the memory Spoiler -The Career Highlights- 1. Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me? 2. Fresh Out The Slammer 3. So High School 4. The Albatross 5. I Hate It Here 6. Florida!!! -The 11/10s- 7. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived 8. thanK you aIMee 9. Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus 10. loml 11. The Bolter 12. But Daddy, I Love Him -The 10/10s- 13. The Prophecy 14. How Did It End? 15. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart 16. Guilty As Sin? 17. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys 18. The Black Dog -The 9/10s- 19. Clara Bow 20. Peter 21. I Look In People's Windows 22. The Manuscript -The 8/10s- 23. The Alchemy 24. Down Bad 25. So Long, London 26. Cassandra 27. Robin -I tend to skip them. They're still decent to good, but there's just too many songs I want to play more- 28. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) 29. The Tortured Poets Department 30. imgonnagetyouback 31. Fortnight Outstanding album overall. The fact there's only 4 tracks out of 31 that I'm not eager to replay while still liking them truly says it all. 2
ThatGUY Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Finally listened to the album in full. I wanted to enjoy it but I just couldn't get into it. I'm not a fan of that talk-singing she has been doing with her later albums. I know it gives her room to write with more complexity but sometimes less is more (see All Too Well).

First the cold rage and then the lash out. DE-LI-CIOUS It's so so so soo incredible. I'm not seeing people talk enough about all the different song structures (or lack of, in some cases) on this album! That part of the TSMWEL feels like it's just going to be a bridge, but then it's actually a devastating, nearly two minute long diatribe Clara Bow has no real chorus. Fresh Out the Slammer spins out into a different song at the end. The list goes on. Ugh it's all so good. 7
every1blinks Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I drove to my friend's apartment last night and someone was blasting Florida!!! in the parking lot. Earth is healing 3 2
IBeMe Posted April 25 Posted April 25 i love how on the standard edition there's so much humor and sarcasm all throughout and then on The Anthology she is taking herself a lot more serious and is a lot more pensive in a way. Multi faceted QUEENT
