M!X Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) After 10 plays of the standard version and 6 of the entire anthology, this is shaping up to be one of my favorite Taylor albums. At first, I was overwhelmed with the number of songs and the songs just sounded samey but once they sit down with you you realize the songs are actually quite different from each other, there are some incredibly sad ones here, the prophecy, loml, chloe, sam etc are hitting that All Too Well level of devastation for me, there's a lot of fun stuff (daddy I love him, high school, alchemy, iamgonnagetyouback), I love the theme of Clara Bow and the self mention Who's afraid is giving reputation, it's cringe but I enjoy it I look in people's window's is giving that perfect folklore/evermore magic So Long London is one of my favourite 5th tracks, it's soo sad, I teared up when listening it on a ride to work I am probably forgetting a lot of stuff I wanted to write, but overall I am so happy how she managed to pull of so many songs that I enjoy The only 2 songs I am struggling to remember / enjoy at the moment are guilty as sin and fresh out of slammer on the standard Anthology is mostly great, I understand the criticism for I Hate It Here and Thank you Aime lyrics, I think people are doing too much on the first one, I felt like she could've said anything else to emphasize the escapism theme of the song for it to sound better Overall I would say this is an album for people who are long time fans, the production is giving last 3 albums and it's just so lyrics heavy. It's obvious she did not care to make another huge genre shifting record like 1989 or have an acclaim like Folklore nor pop catchy hits like Midnights, rather just vent and talk about her private life and make an album with 2 of her friends, it's such an intimate album that I honestly can't imagineit being produced by anyone else than these 2. Walk_Away21 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 You're not Dylan Thomas I'm not Patti Smith This ain't the Chelsea Hotel We're modern IDIOTS Her most self-aware, humorous track. 4
ImpressMeMuch Posted April 24 Posted April 24 how are people going to complain about taylor's songs being self-referential when less time has passed since their release than their fave's last release period
19SLAYty9 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I wish she had actually borrowed more from the 1975s sound. 2

IBeMe Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I kinda want TS12 to be a album full of bops just to make the fans base appreciate how amazing TTPD & Midnights are. Both have bops but they are mostly midtempo records so I think if TS12 is a palette cleanser and is chalk full of uptempos like 1989 and Reputa than maybe people will appreciate these records even more? I mean both Midnights and TTPD are some of her biggest records ever so clearly ppl are already loving the records overall BUT i think you guys know what I mean in the sense that they will stand out more and be better looked at 1

And they are official critics, not bald bloggers. If they decided to live in a world where this album was panned when It's more acclaimed than the 70% of their faves discographies It's their problem 1

I don't mind posting reviews at all. She's proud of her album. I just think it's cringy as hell to post them with the lyrics first between heart emojis in a vocal style that sounds like the soulless TaylorNation

KingWitch Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Favorite Song: The Albatros (Evermore revenge is here!) Least favorite : I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (Its the Bejeweled of the album for me, so glitter-jelled and just bland)

vale9001 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 the music video is very good and sells well the song. It's also very well directed, the outro part is great. Only bad part is the cut after the First chorus. maybe her directional debut can approach a 61 on metacritic after all 1
smallreminders Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Somebody here said a few days ago she did not show us the schedule of TTPD Board Meeting for the rest of the week because she did not plan anything else... well 2
