Post Malone Posted April 24 Posted April 24 The Albatross chorus is like the best melody I've ever heard... divine 5
pinkbowvintage Posted April 24 Posted April 24 every time I step away from this album from a while and come back to it, it somehow sounds like 100x better it's like I'm hearing it all over again every single time HOW does she do this?! Midnights never did this to me. Not on this level. Maybe a few songs like Lavender Haze and Maroon got better and better over time but...this is next level. This is her magnum opus. 2

Mr. Duff Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Down Bad I Can Do It with a Broken Heart Guilty as Sin? But Daddy I Love Him These are the potential singles. ICDIWABH must be a single to pick up the pace, it screams Bad Blood slayage. Down Bad could be a Delicate, but could also be a Midnight Rain, a gem of a track that is successful in its own right. But Daddy I Love Him is the perfect re-introduction to Rep TV but it's just too long so may not work on radio at all. But it screams Rep TV. So could be a final single. Guilty as Sin? is so good too, not sure where to put it but maybe third single if Down Bad won't be chosen. I wish she can choose from The Anthology, because I really think So High School and ingonnagetyouback have so much potential. The Albatross too, if willow did decent during its run, now with Taylor's good graces with radio, The Albatross could throw in a good run.

AnitaFalafel Posted April 24 Posted April 24 ngl I find the "31 songs is too many" argument a bit tiring, although I agree that the Anthology could use some better pacing. But double albums aren't her invention and I always loved the chance for a deep dive into the mind of an artist and especially with this album I feel like The Anthology almost acts as a therapy session of sorts? Like the first album is her telling the "entire torrid affair", everything that happened and almost drove her to the brink, and then with the Black Dog the songs start digging deeper and less about what happened but more about her inner thoughts and processing of this manic phase, if it makes sense. I hate it here, People's windows and How did it end? To me all three sound like songs where she had to find refuge in herself, out of the public eye, to face her pain and let it mean something. Then you have Peter and Robin, to me they sound like the kind of thoughts you start having when you start getting therapy and are forced to reflect on your youth, and childhood, trying to patch what was broken for your inner child. And the Manuscript of course has that melancholic serenity of letting go and accepting the pain as part of the journey I think... Probably a reach but! 6 2

And only a few pop girls can write a poem as a prologue like this, the talent In Summation: Summary Poem by Taylor Swift At this hearing I stand before my fellow members of the Tortured Poets Department With a summary of my findings A debrief, a detailed rewinding For the purpose of warning For the sake of reminding As you might all unfortunately recall I had been struck with a case of a restricted humanity Which explains my plea here today of temporary insanity You see, the pendulum swings Oh, the chaos it brings Leads the caged beast to do the most curious things Lovers spend years denying what's ill fated Resentment rotting away galaxies we created Stars placed and glued meticulously by hand next to the ceiling fan Tried wishing on comets Tried dimming the shine Tried to orbit his planet Some stars never align And in one conversation, I tore down the whole sky Spring sprung forth with dazzling freedom hues Then a crash from the skylight Bursting through Something old, someone hallowed, who told me he could be brand new And so I was out of the oven And into the microwave Out of the slammer and into a tidal wave How gallant to save the empress from her gilded tower Swinging a sword he could barely lift But loneliness struck at that fateful hour Low hanging fruit on his wine stained lips He never even scratched the surface of me None of them did "In summation, it was not a love affair!" I screamed while bringing my fists to my coffee ringed desk It was a mutual manic phase It was self harm It was house and then cardiac arrest A smirk creeps onto this poet's face Because it's the worst men that I write best And so I enter into evidence My tarnished coat of arms My muses, acquired like bruises My talismans and charms The tick, tick, tick of love bombs My veins of pitch black ink All's fair in love and poetry Sincerely, The Chairman of The Tortured Poets Department This is so beautifully written oh wow and damn she really went in on ratty where are the losers acting like this was some love album 1

She definitely wrote a lot of it while with him, but the conclusion with "The Smallest Man" (and "The Black Dog") cements it as a chaotic break-up album (at least that piece).

I thought they weren't together anymore, those Matty songs they worked on were for midnights and the relationship lasted like a month, she'd have time to write it right after Edited April 24 by Starchild
EndofASadMovie Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Tiktok is saying But Daddy I Love Him is the modern Love Story and loml is White Horse's sister. It's almost like she did it on purpose. Guess what? Love Story was rumoured to be about Martin Johnson who was also a drug addict so her team/parents forced him to stay away from her for her image. History repeating 1
