The personal life stuff is zzzz Yeah, I mean I've generally only cared about to the extent that it allows me to draw connections between songs (but even that is manageable without knowing or discussing the inspirations). I've never been one to put on Dear John and think about him as it played, for example. But I think part of the difficulty with Tortured Poets is that some of the songs are just so blatant that I can't not think about it, which is making it a challenge to get into a handful of the songs here. Circled you on a map refers to that viral tiktok trend of girls pranking their BFs after the first game saying Taylor put him on the map because he was a nobody. She's saying he was already "on the map", she just circled it which is true lol Touch down, the bridge about celebrating with his boys, the trophy and him just running to her. The heroine line makes sense for Travis because have you seen how he talks about her? He's not been shy about singing her praises but more importantly, it kinda pokes fun at the NFL stats they were putting up of him performing better at the games when she was in attendance. (that line comes right after "we've been on a winning streak) One of the few reviews she shared on her Twitter interprets The Alchemy as the Begin Again of the album and specifically about Travis. I cut off the few ones that I enjoyed the least (I like them - and I think there is not a single bad song on the album, but I found those very samey for my taste or somehow did not appeal so much as the others). Also I decided to start with Clara Bow since it channels the theme of poetry and the lyrics bring a sense of irony for what follows; than each "The" is like a chapter of the album (TTPD, Prophecy, Alchemy, Albatross, Bolter, Black Dog, Manuscript).
