There are currently 4 of them and note we're still ahead of the official release. By the time it comes out on Spotify, I'll have become the #1 stan here. No it isn't. Would I prefer to see you explaining why you love the 4 you like than vocalizing how much you dislike the rest? Yes. But that's neither here nor there.

Tracks 1-2 are the prologue. Tracks 3-5 are about the death of her long term relationship. Tracks 6-12 are about her coping with the breakup in a destructive ways including a toxic rebound. Track 12 ends with the realization that the rebound is a toxic unfixable mess. Track 13 (loml) is about her ending her escapism and actually going back to grappling with the end of the relationship. Track 14 is her realizing that she can cope without an escape mechanism which allows her to finally jetison her need for a rebound so she cuts emotional ties with Smallest Man. Tracks 15 and Tracks 16 are then about her starting once again both romantically and famewise. 3

Majority criticism focus on that Charli part and it lacks of commercial sounds. This is way better than the initial meltdown we got for Midnights, from that karma issa cat drags to James Charles vocals to Vigilante S! weird inclusion in the album Charlie line is also a lyric that she and her partner are literally saying when they are high together after a verus where she calls them both idiots.
fever2288 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 She really needs to move on from Jack. This sounds the same as her last 50 songs

badidearight Posted April 18 Posted April 18 the reaction to the charlie line on twitter is so over the top i jumped when i heard her say his name and i'm not even a fan of that track yet but people are purposely ignoring the context

They did (and still do) the same with Karma.

It gave me the rush I needed, that outro… and apparently it's a bottom tier track for most, so my expectations are HIGH. 1

Can you explain what you mean Please? Do they have a Connection a Theme?

Yes. But that's neither here nor there. It's still too early for me to get into details. Once again: the album still hasn't officially come out and I'll need more time with it. The last time I felt this way about Taylor's album was during my first listen of "Reputation". Couldn't really connect with it and needed time to switch. We're all listening to LQ leaks and now it's time to just share your initial thoughts with others. There are no songs as instant as even "Anti-Hero", which was my immediate favorite on "Midnights". "Down Bad" is the one that gets the closest to AH in terms of memorability, although it might change the more I listen to other songs.

I love the breakdown and I can def see why she did it that way, but sonically that part still just doesn't flow to me. Of the album those two tracks are the extremes in terms of just sound (not lyrics). I wish she worked in a better transition esp when the songs on this one are above average in length anyways; I feel like it wouldn't have hurt to have an outro seep into smallest man. In fact I'd argue it's the way up for her because lyrically it's almost hard to imagine her getting even better but sonically I can see more improvement on the way Edited April 18 by Navyofbadgals

For me, this feels like an album where she deprioritized production in favor of her stream of consciouss lyrics for the better and the worst.

chaeyonce Posted April 18 Posted April 18 My two cents is that people who didn't like Taylor's albums bar Folklore aren't going to like this either. It's better than Midnights, reminescent of Lover at parts, Folkmore at others and esp Midnights lyrically. But then again ATRL doesn't like anything until it officially smashes and becomes a streaming and sales monster so I wouldn't take much of what is being said right now seriously because it's bound to be a lot of flip flopping. She'll explore eventually, collaborate with different producers and her songwriting will mature. I'm not against criticism, in fact, I welcome it and I believe this is the only way to grow but only if it's genuine. Florida, loml, So long London, Who's afraid of little old me and The black dog are the highlights. 2
Karmaisacat Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I LOVE this album some highlights: Who's Afraid of One of the Best Songs of My Career it's perfect, it's so quintessentially Taylor loml - everything that folkbore wishes it was I Can Do It With Another Broken Record - Campy, fun, cute Florida!!! - a new sound for her, soooooo gooood But Daddy I Love Him - Another song that screams Taylor, amazing melody and lyrics
kayliah Posted April 18 Posted April 18 My favs are fortnight,My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,Down Bad,So long London,Florida, loml, the black dog and the rest i like but i need time. what this album needed are some blinding lights and save your tears. I prefer folklore in terms of artistry. This one is a great album but not a career repeak and it lacks the highs and bops of Midnights. TTPD was the right title.
