Melodically speaking, this is honestly one of her best work ever.

Does anyone know what are the promo line up for this?

17 hrs left!

I literally start my work shift at the hospital when the album hits streaming platforms.  Damn it!

Once the reviews and the first week numbers start rolling in, watch everyone change their tunes lol.

there's no debating about numbers when it comes to Taylor but if this gets less positive critical reviews, by your logic, the "Liddos and Ariantoes" (felt 12 typing that) would be right, right? Or would the critics all be wrong. Someone would have to be.

Down Bad is excellent. Aaron does modernized early 00's pop music so well. A diverse king.

swifties need to realise this album its just not as good, its not just hate, its a downgrade from folkmore, and i say this as an occasional fan, i think she needs to work with other producers and jack needs to stay away from both her and lana, this is crazy

no one needs to "realize" your opinion...I've been a fan since she was opening for Rascal Flatts and have been to every single tour--this album hits absolutely everything I would want personally and I didn't love Midnights

This album is devisive. It's sythpop, dreampop with less commercial sound so those who like uptempto with more beats like Dua Lipa won't like it.

It's giving third single.

As if we will have a 3rd single from this:ryan3:

I think she will pull another folklore/evermore with regards to the singles :gaycat1:

Nothing necessarily like Hits Different (but lyrically a lot of this album packs so much into short time spans, like the HD bridge) but WCS has a couple siblings here (that elevate what it began).

Ok now I am excited :duca:

i still CAN'T tell if you are a swiftie or a OTH and you've been at it for years, truly bamboozled me

I preordered every variant! I love Taylor but I also think she could make so many choices that I'd prefer with her music

Ok i just listened the album and i have to be fully honest
I was so so hyped but I find it kinda dull and grey. So souless and monochromatic :rip: Hope it grows on me
7/10 :gaycat6:
Definitely matty healy is not a good muse. I was gettin sleepy through it. It was such a pain :emofish:
Its my first time where this happens with a tay alberm.
And Jack Antonoff. His production is so typical, predictable and annoying. Cant stand him anymore. I feel like some melodies are great but the production ruins them.
Too stripped for my taste.

I enjoyed
-My Boy Only Break His Favorite Toys (Playful. Reminded me a bit of Sia in the hook)
-Down Bad/Loml/Black Dogs Cute sad ballad. Loved these. Real sad and reflective. How i imagined the album to be
-So Long, London. The Intro is just beautiful. So celestial. So sad
-Experimental. Feels tribal and a bit spooky but strange at the same time.
-I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. Hmm so videogame esque. Something different. Would love this direction for T12

Isn't Down Bad by Jack?

Track 3 to 5 is an early serve on first listen. So far no anti-hero as expected... Mr S was right it is very midtempo.

I've only listened once fully through - because I want to wait until tomorrow (and I learned my lesson from the 3AM tracks which really elevated Midnights for me).

Firstly, if one of the insiders said at the beginning of this week something like "Midnights 3AM and Folklore had a baby" I know for a fact people would have been very excited. This is the disadvantage of not releasing any songs before an album - the sound will never be what everyone has theorised in their heads and will feel like a disappointment.

Secondly, I do agree the first couple of songs are a slog to get through. I think Taylor and her team are not the best at arranging a tracklist, because if those first couple of songs were scattered throughout the tracklist, it wouldn't feel as samey as Midnights. In saying that from track 6 on wards really feels like what I hoped this album would be, some great lyrics, interesting production and pushing the Taylor 2020's sound forward.

Yes, the lyrics in the title track are clunky and cringey - but so was "sexy baby" from Anti-Hero. She always has a cringey clunky set of lyrics, which makes me wonder are they thrown in for people to hate listen....

The Black Dog is one of the best songs on here, and has me excited for the other 3 bonus tracks -  I presume this will all be Dessner?

TL:DR - It's a really good/ potentially great album that delivers on all fronts. The music would have never matched the hype. The tracklisting needs work, and maybe one or two tracks cut. I can see it getting great reviews, smashing streaming records, and all the haters switching x

oh my GOD, just block me, that's what the function is for  :toofunny2:

I will continue to be in this thread and take part of the discussions since I am a FAN and that won't change until a mod says otherwise.
