Sounwave, yes please. Lavender Haze, Karma melodies are thumpingly great. The former is one of the freshest songs on Midnights. And no need to talk about how great poppy closure aka Glitch is. :celestial4:

They're taking Cruel Summer off the radio.

considering all the time she’s been working on this and the long tracklist I’m positive this could be a multi-genre album

Red’s spiritual successor is long overdue. I know there’s something in there that will instantly become the All Too Well equivalent of her 2020s albums.

One might argue that masterpieces like MTR, champagne problems and WCS have that status, which quality-wise, absolutely — but we need a new highly popular, gut-wrenching epic that every music outlet will still be discussing at large a decade from now.

And Is It Over Now? Is losing spins a lot faster than what it otherwise would be at this point in its run :ryan3:

I just want this album to be mature. Midnights had enough glitter pen to do us for a few years.

her previous songs I would like her to tap into the sounds of further for this project:

  1. dress
  2. call it what you want
  3. lavender haze
  4. labyrinth
  5. my tears ricochet
  6. marjorie
  7. this is me trying
  8. epiphany
  9. long story short
  10. hoax
  11. happiness
  12. king of my heart

Is it real or is it just a theory based off of Cruel Summer's current trajectory?

I doubt an album name with "Poet" in the title will have many glitter gel pen songs....or if any at all :snowball:

No, but if she continues pursuing that sound in one or another, she can reach new soundscapes within those songs. Obviously, no need for exact copies.

If Sounwave is involved I would love for her to go deeper into the red hearse sound she explored on Glitch

But I'm here for the album being a collage of sounds like Red, but I would want them all to be darker/ more depressing and I say yes to no more glitter gel pen songs for now, she mastered those with Bejeweled and Karma :clap3:

how much did Tortured Poets sell in its first hour of pre-orders?

if i remember correctly Midnights did 50k and 1989 TV did 75k?

this is her first break-up album since Red, which was a chaotic multi-genre record, so you could be right.

but i also think she wouldn't risk doing it. after Red lost the Grammys, Lover too, i'm sure she will stick to making cohesive records like folkllore and Midnights.

i feel like Tortured is going to be a darker Midnights, with evermore writing, Red-heartbreak, reputation attitude, and a moody 1989 production.

The only number we have (before they made it impossible to track the preorders) is that she sold 100k vinyls in the first hour.

Can’t disagree, literally came in here to say that I need more country from her with her improved lyricism and wouldn’t mind if it started showing up more on this album :cm:

Evermore wasn’t too long ago and had some cute country and country-adjacent moments but that didn’t satisfy me, it just made me want more!

No more draggings for AOTY winner Midnights. Great album and deserved winner.

There were only like 3 songs I’d call glitter gel pen on Midnights and that’s including the 3am tracks

Will she never ever be getting back together with Max Martin?
