Thoughts on paying for two or more music platforms

What do you think? Is it okay or too much to pay for two music platforms? And what platforms do you use?

in 2016 i had apple music + tidal (blame beyoncé) it was cool but i prefer to stick to one app.

I mean, live and let live, but I don't see the point. 99% of music on Spotify is also on Apple Music and vice versa. Then again, I pay for Last.fm, so what do I know?

I bum off other people, so I'm spoiled... My bf has a family Spotify account, my brother has a family YT account, and I'm on both.

If it weren't for them, I wouldn't pay for either and would just deal with ads because I'm cheap af.

Some platforms have better sound quality than others.

Just pay for the better one then.

Spotify only. When affiliate links send me to other platforms I screenshot the song and type it in to Spotify.

I'm still subscribed exclusively to YouTube Music. At this point, Google has bundled multiple apps (Google Podcasts, Google Play Music, and YouTube Premium) all into one, and it wouldn't make sense to cancel.

That said, the free version of YouTube is riddled with spam, misinformation, and scam ads, I sometimes feel guilty for enabling Google's greed. ALWAYS use an adblocker on YouTube, if you're not paying for it.

Some songs are also available on platforms but aren't available on other platforms that are of better quality. It's a mess.

Does it work? Do they actually add the missing songs?

When I take a screenshot, the single/ album artwork is usually there so I use that as a reference point that I'm bringing up the correct corresponding single/ album on Spotify.

In this world of convenience people are literally paying to not have to type out an artist/ song title on a rival streaming platform.

I don't buy into the bs of hearing things slightly differently on Dolby Atmos (simply because a fader has been intentionally adjusted before something leaves the recording studio to give a Dolby Atmos exclusive).

I use Spotify, but I had for a brief moment Tidal and AM.

My opinion is if you can afford, why not. However I wouldn't use both simultaneously. Also, if something isn't available on Spotify you can still add these songs manually, tag them nicely and play from your local library. This is what I do.

Last Fm? For what are you paying? Honest question, it;s been ages since I stopped using it and I didn't knew they had payment service lol

Apple Music all the ways. Spotify sound quality is garbage, this year AM did their Wrapped but you get them every month and at the end of the year. You can eatch music videos without ads, exclusive interviews and if you're not American with AM you get the deluxe versions (TTAL Fan Ed. - P!nk, Louder - Lea Michele Del. etc.) and idk why but i get the new releases half an hour before midnight, also lyrics available instantly not days after the release.

I had Spotify for years and I changed in January to AM and I just don't wanna leave since I heard what my fave albums sound like in HQ

Ability to edit scrobbles (manually and automatically), more week-end/year-end information and some other features. It's a lowkey ripoff, but I'm too deep into the rabbit hole to cancel it. :deadbanana4:

I don't see the point. Sounds like a waste of money to me.

I use Apple Music.

It's a waste of money. Better off giving that £10 a month to charity instead

I pay for Amazon and pirate Spotify

Update. Decided to cancel Amazon music and PAY for Spotify. That way I can stream Spotify on my Alexa devices (without Bluetooth). Perfectly timed thread as my next amazon music payment was due in two days and I get a month of Spotify free 😎

I only pay for YouTube premium /music, its the only one i find valuable since i already consume 50% of my content from YouTube and the convenience of not having ads is amazing :giraffe:

And prayers. I pay for Spotify and that's all. I used to have AM because of that free trial thing when it launched in 2015 but it was so insular, I could never find good music and the playlists were trash. As soon as I got Spotify I discovered so much new music through their recommendations and smart shuffling. I never went back to AM after that.

I was going to pay for Apple & Spotify but decided I'll stick to Spotify and Youtube Music (tho I barely use yt music I just have it for the no ads)

I prefer and primarily use Apple Music. It has the functionality I need that the other streaming services don't have. I have Spotify just because, I typically only use it for sharing music since many others do use that one; if I make a playlist for someone, I make it through that streaming service.

I'd imagine people have their various reasons for possibly having multiple music platforms, as I myself do. Whatever works.
