Dante Silva Posted April 11 Posted April 11 When Madison Beer recently stepped in to Dua's world with this, it was received warmly, celebrated and her home country (the U.S.) appeared to love it. Yet Dua (who it appears inspired Madison's switch in direction), continues in much the same vein and gets derided for it. It makes no sense 🤷🏼♀️
Solaria Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Houdini is the perfect transition from FN to RO. She couldn't have done it better tbh. I don't know what ATRL (or pop music everywhere for that matter) would want from her. If she recorded a country album or a singer-songwriter album, the same people that drag her not ''switching it up'' would be begging for dance-pop from her again. It's giving Kylie's fanbase punishing her everytime she deviates from Tension or Fever-esque music 1
mike_int Posted April 11 Posted April 11 you guys need to stop with this fake narrative that Dua is flopping. Its getting boring.
Vermouth Posted April 11 Posted April 11 (edited) Should have gone. Not should have went! Gone! (I hate to be the grammar police, but I'm too traumatised by this one to comment on Dua's direction, as I'm lying down in a dark quiet room, trying to hold it together worried sick for the missing past participle). jqnetto Posted April 11 Posted April 11 how many dance pop songs she needs to release before yall drop this narrative
Raphy23 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Not people acting like Houdini is risky. It's not risky, it's just ugly. 1

EarthJang Posted April 11 Posted April 11 (edited) Releasing a bad song as a lead single surely is really risky Edited April 11 by EarthJang . 1

If she deviated from the FN formula into, say, clubbier sounds (which I would've preferred), and the songs performed similarly to Houdini/TN, ATRL would NOT shut up about missing "FN Dua". Bethenny Frankel Posted April 11 Posted April 11 didn't hard candy bomb other than the lead in the US?
CroNich Posted April 12 Posted April 12 If anything her latest singles are too safe, the GP seem to be getting bored and losing interest 1
barbiegrande Posted April 12 Posted April 12 She needs to hop off the retro pop sound. People are tired of 70/80s inspired music. We've moved on to the 90s and 00s. 2 1

Miracle Posted April 12 Posted April 12 If this is the "risky" route...what would the safe route be? You say DTN but I feel like the three songs she has released could've perfectly been on FN lol
