But getting no sleep was not the move if she really wanted to capitalize on Nasty. NBB was the only choice if the goal was another hit. I dont think she cares that much about having a massive hit. She would rather stick to her vision than giving into algorithms and formulas. 3

I think GNS was smart for her core after Nasty, a reminder that she's not selling out. And Nasty was still big in late June so there wasn't much need for a new hit. So I don't think No Broke Boys should have dropped before now. I think you're right, Thirsty or even Cross the Line with a sexy ass viral video would have been a moment. This is why I don't think T cares about popularity as much as it may seem, she isn't dumb and clearly knows how to get attention so I just think she's more concerned with the message than anything, and thinks about the rollout in terms of art & voice and not commercial success. At least in terms of priorities. She's interesting that way. If I were her I would have done a lot more for this project. 2
nuclear Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 From what I heard they messed up and didn't shipped the CDs on time. Don't know if it's true or not but they definitely didn't get counted for billboards. Why she always find ways to sabotage herself? There is no reason for this album shouldn't out debut Aquarius. The album should have came out last month or 6 weeks ago. If it had, it would have done double the numbers at least, and most likely out debut Aquarius especially if they had physical shipped on time. It made no sense to release it now when nothing is ready not even the CDs. What is even the point ? Especially since majority of the albums has been for 2 years. No promo during release week. Everything stop during release week. Nasty was a cute moments, I am glad to witness it. Let's pray despite her affinity to self sabotage, NBB will do something. Back to indie underground underrated we go. I need her wrapped this baby trilogy by Spring 2025 at the absolute latest. My last rant. 1

I know T is kind of an off-putting artist, anyone I show her to finds her either boring or weird. But Nasty is huge and she deserved top 100. I don't know what it's going to take for her, I kind of think it's never going to happen... 2 1
kishi Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 (edited) #199 is low, but I'm glad this project charted unlike BB/ANG3L. I do hope everything gets into it's rightful place with promotion and physicals. I'm guessing someone dropped the ball regarding the availability of getting CDs and vinyls. Indie artists have it tough, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape over opening week sales. We don't have to resort to dramatics. Edited August 26, 2024 by kishi 1 1

Girl bffr what makes you think if the album came during nasty prime it could've sold out specially if physical and cds weren't available that time

hallucinating Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 (edited) Okay so the late CDs will count towards next week's report, right? I know she doesn't care about numbers and her label might say they don't, but these things do matter for long-term ROI. Hopefully we get a cute repeak in November. right where you left me Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Nasty and Getting No Sleep have made it to 300 plays already whew Other tracks next
Goofy Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 why do yall act like she sold tons of CDs? lol. I highly doubt the ones sold for the US territory exceed 1K

Tinashebanks Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 (edited) Nasty's virality was never gonna translate into a much larger fanbase. Cc: Tommy Richmann/Lay Bankz None of the R&B girls are selling but Tinashe is been between a rock & hard place. The lack of embrace by Black Female audiences (reason for poor Apple streams) or White Pop fans has always been her downfall. I wouldn't even know what direction her management could take to reconcile this. It is what it is at this point She just needs to keep building momentum & get Needs sized hits consistently to sustain herself. Edited August 27, 2024 by Tinashebanks 1 1

The only thing I can think of is her songs are inconsistent lyrically and sound wise. One will be sensual, while another is pop, while another is rap/trap. Even though we all love and appreciate her ability to blend genres and make different types of music I think it takes a couple consistent albums with the same sound to garner more fans. Think about pop fans who want to keep hearing pop songs from her but are disappointed when they hear she didn't release that. Then there are fans who want needs, nasty, and throw a fits and are upset when she releases pop tracks. I feel like maybe people stop checking on her because they don't get what they want each release then kind of forget. This is just a long shot theory though lol 2
Black Sunflower Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 The signed CDs definitely shipped late. Mine didn't ship for almost a week I think and it's not even here yet.

This is just a long shot theory though lol this is how fans are in general and quite frankly speaking there are other artists who do quite a bit of the same thing with their albums and they don't get anywhere near half the hate for it. the true difference is and always has been the level of support from the industry itself and i don't just mean her peers. i'm not gonna lie, sometimes i do want her to do a cash grab era where we might lose a bit of the art but at least, for once, she (hopefully) wouldn't lose money so she could make things a bit easier on herself. as much as she says she thrives under pressure, i'm sure she'd love to rehearse a little longer before tour starts or send more songs to radio or not have to worry about whether she could get this or that feature. obviously her ego would absolutely never allow her to do it but it's a nice thought.

She's a genre bender artist but at the same time she doesn't fit in a box that the industry wants to put her in !! And I do believe Tinashe is one of the alternative rnb pop artist that kinda be successful kelela and fka twigs don't have the same success like her 2

Goofy Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 tbh I don't know what kind of success yall expected from an 8-track ep off which two songs were already out for months and the rest is mostly in the usual midtempo Tinashe space the public never f-ed with in the first place. our fanbase is tiny, we don't really go hard for her in the sense of organizing and mass-buying. the promo is mostly based on social media,... so I'm actually happy it charted at all 1
nuclear Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Y'all it okay for fans to be disappointed and express their feelings. It is not a crime. This notion you can't be unhappy, provide constructive criticism, or disappointed with any of this or tinashe it ludicrous and insane.
