People are probably going to drag Robbie for this (and he kinda should be for the last part) but he is right. Streaming has made the industry boring (and this is a view expressed all the time on here) and the extent some people go to to try and attempt to cancel whatever artist they don't like borders on mental illness

Well he's like 60 years old so I get the nostalgia for something different, if you want to upset and be risky you have to accept that it won't be for everyone's taste. Matty Healy seems like a poor choice though, I feel like he only does that stuff for headlines

Being held accountable for saying/doing problematic things isn't a new phenomenon, nor is it the cause of the industry being boring, that's the fault of streaming and the listening publics poor attention span, but of course this geriatric wants to blame being woke. There was no racist outburst, though.  A video from when he was a teenager surfaced where he said the N-word. That's all what happened.

 

Dumb, but what he said as a teenager shouldn't be held against him.

 

Especially when full blown adults like Jennifer Lopez and Eminem said the N-word with their chests puffed out in their songs. They should be getting backlash too.

 

Where is Justin Bieber's? Dua Lipa's? Troye Sivan's? They all said it too, but they're successful as ever.

I can't. I'm sure that the music that Robbie listens to is probably boring - mainstream white guys doing rock and pop. Yikes!

 

But maybe if he expanded his horizons beyond the charts and beyond the insular bubble that he finds himself in, he might find that there's more exciting and varied music at his fingertips than ever before.

 

He won't, though. He's just complaining for the sake of complaining. Old person stuff.
