And some people still criticize the movie for its lack of nuance when even then some still don't understand the whole point :rip:

it's sad

She literally never said ALL people have to live like that. It's just how SHE likes it. And many (if not all) binary trans people wouldn't disagree with her, post transitioning oc

Trans people aren't immune to patriarchal indoctrination, they exist within the confines of the system not outside of it so I'm not getting what you're trying to say

right? It'd be more interesting to criticize Barbie as a white feminist and hypercapitalistic movie.

Barbie Is not hypercapitslist lol.

It's instead a satire of capitalism and branded feminism

Barbieland is a metaphor of an american feminist paradise and turns to be a nightmare where everyone is  unhappy because of the roles branded feminism build for its characters in that world.

Barbie escapes that world only rule is She can realize herself  for her job and by being powerful to go to the real world to became a mother.

The end of the movie Is almost socialist in the way It explains people roles in the society can't be only individual but you have to think also at how you fit in a community and you serve it.

If you want an hypercapitalist movie with an hypercapitalist female protagonist Poor things is there for you.

Does she have issues comprehending media? Because barbie was literally hitting you with its surface level feminism

I honestly watched the movie and didnt get the main idea :rip:. I know so many who didnt get it too :giraffe:
The first part was fun. The second part of the movie was a confusing mess. Too convoluted :gaycat6: and i didnt get the ending

Definitely a movie to Re-watch. The ken part was also annoying. Too much screentime for ken.

All of this to rebrand a doll on the market, that was initially extremely anti-feminist. This movie's intent is to sell a doll to a new generation. The rest is marketing.

Like many amateur interviewees, I do occasionally experiment with talking sh*t. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the Allure cover story we shared yesterday caused.

Not when Ken quite literally stole the movie. :rip:

Did she even watch the movie? It was pretty uplifting of men.

Clearly not from the standpoint of Shaki's underage boys

And that's logical  — children don't watch moves and in general absorb messages with layered meanings like adults. It's a straightforward: here's the good guy or girl and here's the baddie.

She may as well have said she believes marriage is between a man and a woman. :rip:

Now I'm going to need you all to apologize to JLO.  :eli:

She already has… go ahead and stream WHEN A WOMAN found on her 2017 mixtape EL DORADO.

I think it's ok if boys don't like Barbie/feminine movies. As a kid, I didn't like straight men'd movies and prefer feminine movies. But the fact that the kids said it felt emasculating and Shakira agreeing is a red flag. Hopefully, they educate themselves when they get older.

My mom has the same opinion and she has her age so maybe it's a generational thought :skull: both latinas too

I feel like nothing is allowed to be fun anymore :rip:

A silly surface-level movie about a doll going to the real world turned into such a controversial talking point. I just went to enjoy a movie for a couple hours, I don't know why people walked out of that theatre with so many thoughts and feelings hurt. I went to Oppenheimer with my analysis hat on, I went to Barbie just to laugh and not take it seriously since it's literally for kids.

Not everyone lives in Aware America dahling :giraffe: where you are all taught about all types of important social issues since Elementary School

Im from Latinoamerica and grew up in a tiny town.
When i was in school we were never taught about racism-feminism-lgbti-gender issues.
Everything i learned about human rights. I learned thanks to ATRL and online pop forums. I didnt even have civism classes.

Worldwide things people are more conservative and there's less focus on how we have to demolish our system rules.  People just follow them.
Thats awful. This is why fascism is gettin stronger. Scary  :giraffe:

Shakira is a 40s yeard old from the most conservative region from Colombia and all her circle of friends are other latinos like her from the old gens.
Sometimes i worry of how movin to FLORIDA can turn her into a conservative.  Shaki needs to move to LA. instead :gaycat1:lol
Shaki has a lot of christian friends like juan luis guerra and others.
She's from a very traditional catholic family-parents too. Typical latino family from the 30s-40s
I think is predictable why she's still havin this type of backwards takes who also hurt her.
Shakira is very submissive to men. Thats a problem. She was taught it.
This is not brand new info for the Shakifans. We are aware of it since a long time and we dont like it. :gaycat3:
This is why she is still not over Pique. For her the concept of Marriage-Husband-Long term relationship was sacred

Shakira needs new friends from the new gens aka Z-ALPHA-MIlenials
To educate her of how she's valuable all by herself.
She doesnt need men to be Complete 100%
Shakira needs to be educated by her nephew. Her nephew Isabella is an expert in social issues and an artist
We need Shaki to be more social aware. She needs more guidance. Its time for her to open her eyes to the truth

It's pretty crazy how people either think Barbie was feminazi propaganda or that it wasn't nearly feminist enough. We really live in two Americas

That happens in all the world not only in A̶m̶e̶r̶i̶c̶a̶ USA.

I don't even think Shakira is that of a gay icon, nor are gays her main audience.

So the loss of their support won't hurt much.

Ever since Shakira got with Pique, she's become this super gender role'd housewife whose beliefs tap into machismo culture. She has become super disappointing tbh (especially music wise) and feels like the complete opposite of who she used to be...

She should've been arrested for tax fraud before having the chance to say this, because this is more embarrassing :deadbanana4:

Living with a football player for over a decade really fried her brain :shakeno:

Horizon Flame

That film is one of the worst movies ever made. I have all these gay friends who whispered to me how much they hated it but not to tell anyone because they didn't want their liberal friends to come for them. :coffee2:
