Artists that are respected in the industry and you don't know why

For me, it's Mary J. Blige. I'm not saying she's untalented because she's not, but she is not so too special to call her the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul. :michael:

Led Zeppelin. They're conmen who ripped off so many artists.

Kanye isn't as respected anymore but still him.

He's been revered as the greatest thing to happen to hip hop and a musical genius, but he doesn't have a single album as seminal as The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Missy is every bit as good as prime Kanye, and changed the direction of 2000s hip hop just as much, but she doesn't get the same flowers.

And also AC/DC. Don't know how they were able to continue putting out basically the same song over and over again. Such boring music.

I'm the last person To want to defend his ass, but he continued to evolve as an artist at a rate that Missy couldn't keep up with. And though Miseducation is way more pivotal in black culture, MBDTF is just as significant from an artistry perspective.

Michael Jackson admitted to sleeping with children in the same bed, slept in the same bedroom with little boys for hundreds of nights (admitted to this, and his own defense says this), paid out millions to accusers, has been credibly accused by multiple people of child molestation, and yet is relatively respected still.

That's what I always wondered aswell, but then I understood you can separate the artist and his work from the person.

The impact MJ's artistry had on the music industry can't be tarnished and will live on forever, even though he was one sick individual

The 1975? I'm not even talking about the scandals or anything; I genuinely don't get what it is about their music that makes critics cream their pants.

I love how this thread turned into a Mary J Blige appreciation one :clap3:

Btw I'd say P. Diddy, not only is he a terrible person but his music doesn't have anything outstanding. On the other hand, The people he promoted released timeless classics
