MatiRod Posted March 27 Posted March 27 So I've noticed an interesting trend going on since the start of the 2020s decade 2020: "Blinding Lights" 2021: "Stay" 2022: "As It Was" 2023: "Cruel Summer" Each of these years produced a global mega smash that seemingly never left the charts for a whole year, and all four of these songs are synth-pop tracks. Is this the defining sound of the 2020s so far? What is behind the public's love affair with uptempo 80s influenced synth-pop tracks? 4
americanlife Posted March 27 Posted March 27 All of these songs were spammed on radio, which is why they never left the charts.
suburbannature Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Tbh Do What U Want deserves credit here despite the feature so many songs followed that sound (Love Me Harder, Style for example) 4 1 1 10 1

halcyonday Posted March 27 Posted March 27 i mean... as if 2010s didn't have tons of synthpops at the top each year 1
