Ariana deserves her second week, but I did also root for Kacey to get her #1 album.

 

It could have happened if her label had pushed a single. The 3k she needed to snatch the #1 could have come from the SEA/TEA units of a lead single. I don't know why they didn't. She had the momentum.

Or why not just drop the album in one of the two weeks before Kanye and Usher, when there was less competition?

She needed the pure sales and ship the vinyls. I don't think her team was counting on Ariana having this great hold with a smash single. They must have thought of it as a one week thing and then dropping down
