chosensparkles Posted March 24 Posted March 24 back in 2009, I remember critics calling it unauthentic and being kinda panned cause it wasn't Gaga enough but I've always found this song to be beautiful and one of her best ballads in retrospect, some critics reviewed the song as one of Gaga's best 4
mike_int Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) Gaga is a singer of many genres and I think it was great she showcased some on her debut album. Speechless is great song however definitely not ahead of its time musically in general, since its a classic Elton John-esque piano ballad, however maybe ahead of its time in terms of style for Gaga herself because it didn't match the electro-dance-pop singles which have been presented to public. Erreur2 La Nature Posted March 24 Posted March 24 It is still her best balad to this day. Very good song. 1
teresaguidice Posted March 24 Posted March 24 no, its the definition of (intentionally) behind-its-time. it's pretty bad imo, feels like an american idol cover of queen b-side or something. 2 2 1 4

BrokenMachine Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Couldn't care less about what critics said, I didn't even knew it was panned since I loved it since day one anyways, one of her best songs
Silvaasunto Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The thing is... that live performance is 10 times better than the album version 🥲 (low key that shouldve been the one in the album)
LustSpell Posted March 24 Posted March 24 It's ok. Was a standout back then but incredibly boring now. But it's nowhere as heinous as Teeth.
