The reality is she needed the group as much as the group needed her and her failure in seeing that is why her solo attempts never took off. The "Jai Ho" situation is a little more nuanced than that. Jimmy Iovine and Anjula Acharia (the CEO of defunct South Asian entertainment company Desi Hits) wanted an English version of the song after seeing Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 and they recruited Nicole to write and perform it. The song was originally supposed to be a solo offshoot just like Nicole's duet with Diddy after PCD came out, but the movie took off after the 2009 awards season and Doll Domination was an underperformance so Jimmy, Ron Fair and Interscope thought it would be a good idea to put the song under the Pussycat Dolls banner and capitalize off the new popularity of the movie so they could re-release Doll Domination. It was a smart business decision, but it should understandable that Nicole was upset when it was another originally solo effort repackaged as "The Pussycat Dolls." As for why her solo efforts never took, you have to get people to like you to be successful. No one likes Nicole. They love to diminish her.
