It will never not amaze me how Nicole with PCD was a mega success and Nicole without PCD was a mega flop like… they're basically the same picture :skull:

Right.

The irony is that, imo, this is why her solo career never took off.  Why do we need solo music, when she was already solo while in the group? :celestial5:

Not to mention the group had better A&R, so the quality was better than her solo stuff.

So in the end, it came back to bite.

But she still worked out a wonderful solo career for herself regardless (TV, musicals, etc).  And she is super talented + beautiful…so I can't be too mad at her ambition.

I just would've played my cards differently if I were in her position.   But oh well…

Exactly. I absolutely respect her talent but I do not like the way she treated and talked about the other girls a lot of the time. like you said it worked out in the end but they way it ended for the group really stemmed from Nicole's behavior (back then).

No it's not. Melody would never have made a good front woman for the dolls. She's the 2nd best vocalist the group but Nicole runs circles around her vocally. Sure Nicole never made the solo career she dreamed of, but she was by far the star of the group.

Melody was also the weakest dancer. They would have definitely not been able to keep it moving if they used her lol. :coffee2:

That's a cute performance you posted though.

Not you saying a cute performance when its one of the hardest ballads for any singer to sing. :deadbanana2: This just goes to show how arrogant Nicole fans are. Like I said even though she CAN sing well she didnt need incredible vocals to sing songs like Bottle Pop and stickwitu. :ahh:

She was just being honest. We all knew other girls had 0 input/relation with album. They were background dancers, and they knew what they singed up for

except for Melody clearly

PCD worked because of their fun/likeable/campy brand + group image. Nicole was definitely the most talented, but as a solo artist she didn't capture the ~fun~ energy that made PCD resonate with the GP (also the drama made it seem like she was a mean diva).

They should've found a way to give Melody more than just the occasional ad-lib (e.g., giving her some bridges). This would've made Nicole look like less of a spotlight-hog and would've refreshed their sound a bit. Might've benefited both the group and solo Nicole in the long run.

This! Nicole may struggle with coming across as a likable pop star, but it's not her fault Robin Antin and Ron Fair only wanted Nicole to be the one to sing while occasionally throwing Melody and Carmit a bone in allowing them to add a few ad-libs and background vocals.

That makes it seem like Nicole gave a damn whether they sang or not when she obviously preferred it this way. If she did then things might have been different for them

Nicole put out the worst singles; Wet while a cute bop was a generic Rihanna left over from Loud, Poison was also a Gaga left over

Nicole should've changed her last name for her stage name like Katy Perry. No offense but Scherzinger is a mouth full and doesn't roll off the tongue. Her birth father had the last name 'Valiente' which is way hotter

Because PCD had the machine and the payola behind them as a 'product'... Nicole did not...

She was trying to say what happened, which is ok I guess. But her arrogance and lack of charisma is precisely why they didnt think she would have a solo career.

That's it, she seems so arrogant and insecure, she almost seems happy to say the other girls had 0 input. The other girls always say they had a miserable time in the group because she constantly sabotaged them and blocked them instead of supporting them, she's like the biggest showbiz stereotype of the toxic diva.  The irony is that if she didn't sabotage the group and jump ship after 1 album and instead stuck with it and established herself more with them while the iron was hot, she may have had an easier time to go solo but she was so greedy.

I believe that once you are a girl group, you really have to be equal. I respect this decision though because i liked them but when it comes to girl groups, young girls always play games where they become one of the girls.

Like when young girls would fight about "I'm Bloom from Winx Club" , "I'm the Beyonce of Destinys child" , "I'm Uranus from Sailor Moon" or even with Little Mix i saw that young girls were in LOVE with them and yeah young girls fight about such topics.

when it came to the PCD not choosing Nicole means immediately that you are the flop bich. There is no fun in loving or BECOMING someone else. Thats why everyone hated Nicole and called her a narcissistic which is sad. She is extremely talented, good vocalist and a great dancer. If she started solo she would still be on the spot light.

Those are bands with a frontman, did anyone expect the dude playing the drums to pick up lead vocals? In girl groups, they are usually equal (or pretend to be cough DC cough).

And then you have the low-energy Beyoncé B'Day meets Amerie left over. She couldn't win... and that label A&R didn't like her either lol.
