Tudors Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) It look like a giant smile right now. My job brought us glasses 👓 😁 Edited April 8 by Tudors
Vespertine Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Just watched totality from Dallas. It was a lot cooler and more beautiful than I expected tbh. Glad I stayed a few hours later on my work trip to watch it!
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted April 8 Author Posted April 8 My Eclipse review: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 (4.5/5) I had been waiting for this eclipse since I learned they can predict eclipses for hundreds of years to come. April 8, 2024, 91% of sun coverage, I've been waiting since then. I took a test and sprinted out of my campus to this massive park just a minutes away. By then the sky had turned a steel blue and the shadow of trees and leaves left tiny half moons on the ground which was really trippy for a second. Spoiler I sat down on a bench at the park and took my eclipse glasses and visors out and what I saw was astounding. Even though it didn't go entirely dark, it was amazing seeing the moon engulfing the sun slowly to the point only the tiniest part of the sun was visible. The birds started chirping from the trees and the day turned a grayish blue. (Was a little sad I couldn't take pics since it looked like a blur on my phone, here are the best ones) Spoiler Spoiler Finally the moon started to recede from the opposite side it came, literally giving us the perfect 🌙 I was shocked. Can't wait for the next one (in 2052 where I live ) 5
shyboi Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I could not watch because i don't have the proper protection sun glasses but i felt its energy 1
LustSpell Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Was so unbelievably pretty.. about 85-90% totality here where I'm at. Just had a lovely convo with my grandma as we talked and watched the eclipse. Definitely will be a memory I'll look back on constantly. 1

LoveInStereo Posted April 8 Posted April 8 It was so cloudy where I am, all I saw was the sky turn black & it got really cold. Powerful to witness that alone but feeling so much fomo still
izzy™ Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Just saw it, I wasn't in the path of totality but it was beautiful! Reminded me of a crescent moon.
nostalgic Posted April 8 Posted April 8 That was incredible. Even with the cloud cover - which kinda made the moment more mesmerizing - it was like the world stood still as the moon entered totality. The clouds cleared a small hole in the sky just as it happened and everything became dark in a split second. Everyone was cheering and clapping, it was right out of a movie it really is something you only ever experience once. 2
shookspeare Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I don't know what I expected but I was very underwhelmed tbh
Anomaly Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Eclipse: 11/10 Overall experience: 4/10 My parents live in Texas in the path of totality, so I drove 9 hours to their house to see the eclipse. It was amazing and exceeded my expectations. It was supposed to be cloudy, but the clouds cleared during the hour surrounding totality which was lucky. Surreal experience and amazing that we live on a planet where that happens. The rest of the experience, on the other hand, was somehow an even more "surreal" experience in all the wrong ways… my brother stared directly at the sun because he thought the glasses were for totality which is completely backwards. My mother didn't even really understand what an eclipse really was and kept asking what was supposed to happen. Then, after the eclipse, she told me I should leave right away because she thought I could catch back up with totality in my car. My dad was disinterested because he said he had already seen a total eclipse in his lifetime and that nothing really happens… I looked up the total eclipse he said that he saw in the 1990's and it was an annular eclipse. I WAS DONE 3

HELP She might be onto something dou, at the exact maximum point for us a plane flew by directly in front of the eclipse (and it was out a movie btw) but that makes me wonder how the eclipse is seen from a plane/above the clouds. Do they get to literally chase the eclipse?
ChrisTheLoner Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Eclipse: 11/10 Experience: 10/10 Had the proper eclipse glasses and could look at it and it was so cool. It was 95% coverage here so it ended up getting dark as well almost like it was twilight but a bit creepy with how the light left the sky. When I first looked at it there was just a tiny sliver of the moon at the bottom of the sun. Took an hour for it to reach full coverage at 4:40pm my time. Went outside and got a couple pics of it too even though they suggest not doing that as it can fry your camera. My camera is fine though but you can barely see the sun because of the glare. But the sky got quite a bit darker and it even got colder too at the peak of the eclipse. Overall a very cool experience and I was glad to have glasses for it so I could experience this historical moment! 1

Do they get to literally chase the eclipse? Yes, planes can fly with the eclipse and see totality for an extended period of time. But a car would have to be traveling at like 1,000+ mph to keep up with an eclipse. Even faster than that to catch up with it.
ChrisTheLoner Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Heres some pics. The last one is with the glasses put over the camera lense, you can just barely see it Spoiler 3
mercurialworld Posted April 8 Posted April 8 That was pretty *****! Here's one of the pics I took during totality 4
