The competition couldn't have been closer in the Final Four. On one side of the draw, #1 "Since U Been Gone" and #1 "Frozen" traded the lead back and forth throughout the voting period, before Kelly Clarkson pulled ahead right at the end. That leaves Madonna — who has six career #2 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, more than any other artist and half of which made the tournament — out of the finale. On the other, #8 "Kiss Me" made a serious challenge to #1 "Work It", but the grocery store favorite didn't quite have the juice to take down Missy Elliott. The last Cinderella run has now turned into a pumpkin.

(1) "Since U Been Gone" Kelly Clarkson def. (1) "Frozen" Madonna [22-21]

(1) "Work It" Missy Elliott def. (8) "Kiss Me" Sixpence None the Richer [23-20]

With that, we move on to the Championship of ATRL March Madness, where just two #2 hits remain chasing a shot at redemption. It will be a battle of the aughts, hitting ATRL's nostalgia sweet spot. Check out the updated draw below:

Glad to see that Kelly won over Frozen. Imho, Frozen overstayed its welcome, and as previously mentioned by someone, it should have been Bad Romanced a long time ago. Madonna has better #2 hits.

I challenge this vote, on the grounds that it breaks precedence. Frozen was leading before your vote, and in the past, you said that your vote couldn't change the outcome. Therefore, I'd like to have this reviewed, and have Frozen re-instated as the rightful winner.

Yeah, Frozen should be in the Final. The real count is 21-20. Hosts shouldn't be allowed to influence the final count.

I have never said that. What would be the point of me voting then?

I left the round open because it was so close and all day Friday only three additional people voted. It was clearly time to wrap it up. No need for an insurrection here.

But you could have closed it earlier in the day when Frozen was leading. And besides, the next person would have voted for Frozen. It seems like it was closed at an arbitrary point when Kelly was ahead. I say we do a first to 5 to decide this fairly.

You would've said that in any scenario where Frozen lost - "it was an arbitrary cutoff point" - your suggested cutoff point is just as arbitrary and its clear yesterday barely got any additional votes and had a similar voting turnout to previous rounds

And why wouldn't the host be allowed to vote :rip:

I always leave the round open for at least 24 hours. I gave my usual reminders and updated because the voting had clearly run its course. I’m sorry you don’t like the outcome, but I promise there’s no conspiracy here.

By the way, I'm (unsurprisingly) rooting for Missy in the finals anyway. Why would I rig it for Kelly?

And so we arrive, once again on the wings of controversy, at the Championship of ATRL March Madness, with two top seeds battling it out for the opportunity to reign that they never got on the Billboard Hot 100. (Find a complete draw here.)

It's a showdown between aughts classics — two singles released within just a few years of each other that sound nothing alike but nevertheless have remarkably similar profiles, becoming signature hits for their respective artists, winning Grammys and regularly showing up on lists of the greatest songs of all time.

Will it be #1 "Since U Been Gone", which spent only a week at #2 in early 2005 behind 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" but affirmed Kelly Clarkson as a genuine pop icon? Or is time for #1 "Work It", which tied for the longest run at #2 when it got stuck beneath Eminem's "Lose Yourself" for 10 weeks in late 2002 and early 2003, the closest Missy Elliott ever came to the summit?

It's up to you to decide! As always, in the match-up below, please pick the song that you picture with you — the one that's on your request line. Happy voting!
