Frappucino Posted March 17 Posted March 17 As someone who recently had to call out sick and was very upset about it, I commend you for taking the time to rest because the only reason I got sick was because someone at work came in sick!
Rep2000 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Your job would replace you immediately if they can find another in a heartbeat. You have only 1 back, take care of it. Your "work family" won't pay your medical bills in the future. Killing yourself over your job is simply not worth it. 1 1

GeminiCat Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Report her. She is not allowed to pressure you in any way to return to work if you have a documented injury that required outside treatment. I'm assuming you work in a warehouse. They're not that short staffed. Everyone can easily be replaced, you're just a body to these companies. 1

My doctor issued the sick note up to Wednesday. I'm feeling better but I'm still in pain and my work often involves heavy lifting. I told my boss that I hoped I would be able to come in Monday, but that I wasn't sure and would get in touch with her again on Sunday. Because of staffing shortages, she seems to have somehow taken me calling in sick personally. Now I have to write to her that I won't be coming in until Wednesday. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could best phrase this? I hate that I worry so much about this and even feel guilty. You have a doctors note that should be enough They can't deny doctors orders. They would be affecting your health unless you can go to work and tell them u have restrictions for no heavy lifting. They can find other things for you to help with right? I'm on restriction because of an injury and my employer knows I should not lift anything more than 10 lbs Edited March 17 by Into The Void

When you're retired, you're not going to look back and regret taking sick days. You're going to regret working so much and not enjoying life when you were younger.
tiagol88 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 We truly have been gaslighted into protecting huge companies and it’s depressing. Never feel bad for calling in sick. Your health comes first. If your company is understaffed it’s not your problem. You got nothing to feel bad for 2 1
brraap Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Don't feel guilty. These corporations don't when they exploit labour. When I was a temporary worker I called in sick the 1st time (got loads of sh** for it), called in sick a 2nd time and they told me not to come back. They asked the agency to replace me the next week. Only work what feels right for you. Do not have loyalty to any company. Let your back heal and put yourself first!

"My doctor has asked that I remain off work until Wednesday, so unfortunately I won't be able to come in until then". Right here. Never feel guilty for calling in, even if you need a mental health day, so what? You get one life, don't ever hinder your well being for any for-profit buisiness.
Maroonx Posted March 17 Posted March 17 You have nothing to feel bad/guilty about if you're sick. If you have a doctor's note which states you need rest, then rest and get yourself better. You're health is way more valuable than a job. You can always find another job, whereas with your health, if you don't take care of it, it can get worse. x
popmusicisdead Posted March 17 Posted March 17 i feel you sis. i'm a lazy b*tch by nature and i hate working but lord when i'm on the job, i'm a complete work-a-holic. i have never used PTO except when i had to be hospitalized. i guess you should realize that corporations don't actually care about your well-being and stop trying to seek validation from your superiors/ co-workers. in my case, i was seeking validation from myself because i had severe impostor syndrome at my last job.
