IBeMe Posted March 17 Posted March 17 JT needs to pivot his career. His acting career was a major flop and he has been struggling with his music for a while now. He needs to rebrand a little and maybe consider doing smaller tv roles to bolster his reputation (he is a bad actor but u can work that muscle until u become a little better) and then after doing lots of roles on tv for a solid like 3 years then he could call up some big names and ask for a favor to collab with him or something and then have a mini revival. Him doing whatever he's been doing these last few years (actually not "few years...more like decade lol) hasn't been working AT ALL and it is tanking his public image and his legacy. He should be respected, revered and remembered but instead him being unwilling to apologize, him churning out horrible music and him taking huge gaps has really tarnished the trajectory of his career and his overall legacy 3
Popular Post ALittleGauche Posted March 17 Popular Post Posted March 17 GO KACEY MUSGRAVES remember that Kacey has been blacklisted from country radio because she made a song in support of LGBT rights early in her career 21 2

Yeah the long gaps between albums really hurt him the most iMO. I think he can find a hit from the album and turn the era around. 1
spiritboy Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Rooting for Ariana. Hope she’ll manage to reach 100k this week.

The problem with being an artist who people don’t care about your new music/new projects and u essentially become a touring artist - in the business you’re seen as irrelevant. There’s a reason why there’s the saying, “you’re only as good as a your last hit” most of these people have huge egos and don’t want a crowd to only form when they’re singing songs from 20 years ago, it highlights their irrelevancy tbh esp someone like JT who has been obsessed with being a star since he was a kid. I agree with IBeMe… he needs a complete rebrand but after he fired his longtime publicist Sonia it seems like he has nothing but yes men around so doubt it and JT is stuck in the 2000s.
KKKIMO92 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 JT enjoyed his time while no other white male artist was out there competing. Now they have Harry, Ed, and more pop males like the weekend, no one bother checking him out. Plus, his sorry ass attitude to Janet and Britney ultimately damaged the last good will of the gp. He has a large fanbase so he can tour every now and then but he’s nothing but a pass glory and I’m glad to see it. He deserved this flopping long ago. 3 1 2
iHype. Posted March 17 Posted March 17 JT's album doesn't really go anywhere or have anything memorable on it from what I heard. The long breaks that also make him seem like a part-time musician have made it easy for most of the public to forget about him. Also the rollout for this album was very bad, his name has not been anywhere (except for headlines when old drama resurfaces). The promotion was not enough. Why didn't he appear at the Grammys? Most people legit probably don't even know he's releasing new music. 2

Michelle & Fantasia deserved a #1 1
modern thing Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Ariana will be fine... it would be massive for Kacey and she deserved it with most of her albums
Blue Jasmine Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I’m happy with either of them getting it. justin being nowhere to be seen 2 2
TrymeB Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Why is JT not even being mentioned in the article, like he is a complete non factor in his first week with a new album out?

They only mention #1 contenders in their first article so he's probably not even close
CottageHore Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Kacey deserves the #1 Ariana's album is amazing and it got its moment this week at #1. Give it to Kacey next week for this stellar album and then Ariana can have it back for a bit before Taylor comes and steals it for 3 months

Green Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Not counting Taylor's Versions of her old country albums, when was the last time a female artist got a #1 on the Billboard 200 with a country album? Maybe Shania Twain in 2017? This month we could have 2 with Kacey and Beyoncé.

But regardless, still way too long, and I'd love to see both snag the #1 since country has been having such a huge renaissance in the mainstream the last 2 years, yet it's mostly been relegated to the men
