2013: Almost 1M+ opening week, acclaimed, everyone was paying attention

2016: CSTF! is a worldwide mega smash

2017: He's corny, has a panned Super Bowl, album is panned and opens with 300k+

2024: Bombing in every way imaginable (minus radio lol), panned, washed up clown etc

Crazy how fast his downfall happened

He didn't transition to streaming honestly

3/14 - 7M

3/15 - 11M-12M

Is the counter up already?

Yeah he was huge in 2013. The rerelease was even a huge event. He is one of the artist who got superbowl splashed in his face :rip:

How did op get the #s?  None charted on Spotify Global. I don't see it on kworb

So basically just a made up number :coffee:

Artist chart. He was around 7M with Selfish + Drown.

He's pulling Benson's daily numbers on 3/15.

...unless he's getting many unfiltered streams

Usher's 2016 album debuted with 38K. His 2018 collab album did 15K. He did 91K this time around. He did great for his standards.

JT debuted 293K with Man of the Woods, 350K with The 20/20 Experience 2, and 968K with The 20/20 Experience. Now we're looking at a disaster.

what 2018 album?

also i don't even stan him but who the hell is expecting JT to do these numbers in 2024 bffr :dies: what i'm saying is it did fair considering the nonexistent hype

All those years of JT stans gloating about their fave outlasting Usher (who debuted a decade before JT mind you) to now act like we should have the same commercial expectations for both :deadbanana4:

JT was predicted to debut with 600k+ before his panned Super Bowl and ended up doing half of that so the "Super Bowl hype" isn't such a strong argument especially when Usher didn't perform any new song unlike Justin in 2018.

but the same ATRL was using this excuse on other super bowl performers like Rihanna and Beyonce :clown:

+ first day streams (friday) happened before the super bowl itself (sunday)

Christina’s last album is at 112,860,274 Spotify streams and pulling 40,861 streams daily. I think only J. Lo has fallen that far.

JT’s still likely to make the BB200, even if it’s just for two or three weeks.

? :deadbanana2: Xtina level = not charting on the Hot 100 in 10 years and missing BB200 with a brand new album. JT is bombing but let's not go that far.

The reality is superbowl effect is pretty overrated and only works for artists that already have GP interest and power. Rihanna and Beyonce did well before the superbowl and are still doing well now. Superbowl may have provided more exposure for a moment but people wouldn't have stayed or left just because of one performance.

I don't. Britney, JT and Xtina are all on entirely different levels. You keep making excuses for this man like that somehow justifies these terrible numbers. "He takes long breaks between albums" doesn't mean much considering most of his peers take 4-6 years between projects, or even longer. There was a 6 year gap between Lemonade and Renaissance, for example. And saying he never transitioned into the streaming era is non-sense considering CAN'T STOP THE FEELING has like 1.6 billion streams on Spotify and his previous album spawned a Top 10 hit, even if it was thanks to Chris Stapleton. :deadbanana4: He just over now.

Album release boost + Today's Top Hits placement and still couldn't outstream Toxic. Oh wow.

Long break won't matter if the album is good. Adele took five years break and Beyoncé had six years gap between Lemonade and Renaissance and they did well plus Beyoncé didn't even promote.

His career is literally Katy Perry with longer wait between album. This is his Smile era

Selfish is a jam though.

Now that’s a truly organic hit. How long do you think until EITIW surpasses Britney’s sixth studio album, Circus?

Lemonade - 2016

Everything Is Love - 2018

The Gift - 2020

Renaissance - 2022

If anything, Beyonce is playing this the smartest because she releases a new album every two years. Rihanna, Taylor, Ariana, The Weeknd, Drake and Bieber all showed us that the most important way to increase streams and keep them high is to constantly release and do collabs so your page is linked with other artists. These solo releases and long waits are what are killing our faves.

What a massive downfall for Justin Timberlake. :rip: I think there are a few factors playing into this. But most of all, streaming audiences just do not care about him.

The Carter's streams do not contribute to Beyoncé :rip: The Gift was flopping and ATRL was sure Beyoncé is over back then although it did 200K + daily streams and approaching 1B streams as we speak.

Yes they are on varying levels but none are really mega stars anymore chartwise. JT hasn't fallen as hard as Xtina but tbf none of them even need success anymore they all already had major success in the 2000s to last a lifetime.

And yes Lemonade to Ren was 6 yrs but in between she released side projects like EIL, The Gift etc.
