From Mar. 8-10, Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” earned 587,000 streams — up 18% from the previous week’s Friday-to-Sunday tracking period, according to Luminate. Based on these numbers, before this week The Boy Is Mine was likely getting around 1.15M streams a week then.

In the US, apparently it has around 300M streams.

 

Chartdata leaked it had 1.9M units in the digital/streaming era last May. Guess it depends on how much of that is digital sales but it came out in 1998 so it shouldn't be a lot.

The original Boy Is Mine is such a classic, it's hard to explain how culturally huge the song and the video were in the late 90s and early 00s. And Ari did a great job paying homage. Would love to see it as the 3rd single with a SZA or Doja feature.

Even with this bump, Iris is still getting many more streams than TBIM. It’s pretty clear that Iris was the biggest hit of 1998, and arguably the entire decade. Billboard not allowing Iris to chart during its peak doesn’t change reality.

Brandy also has Girl Is Mine - 170M 

& IWBD has 136M streams split between the original & the Remix 

 

Love Again is also 5M away from 100M
