Mke1979 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 This album is boring compared to her last. I do love Training Season though alot, prob my favorite out of all the songs.
Relampago. Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) I love Illusion more than ever tbh… huge bop. So fun to dance and work out to. Makes me feel sexy and carefree. Shouldn't have been a single (let alone be the inspiration for the whole album) but hey, it is what it is Edited May 21 by Relampago. 2
Papi Juancho Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Illusion is not the vibe of the album, maybe they want to push it to send the song to BPDP at the grammys, instead of Houdini.

Yeah let's make the most eurodance sounding song the flagship single in the US Warner eat **** 3
Cain Posted May 21 Posted May 21 They need to find the most successful boring white man and slap them on a These Walls remix and pray for a HAC hit 2 2

bearman Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) The dark and twisted energy this thread exhumes is kinda iconic. You guys will be okay with her collaborating with Donald Trump himself if that can give her a US hit. Many things can be right at the same time by the way: - The album is great, she delivered what she promised and has great replay value. - Sadly the songs did not connect and a simple skim at the charts would show you that the writing was on the wall for her from the start and I'm sure everyone including her and Warner knew that this is as far as they can push. Yeah maybe they expected Houdini to be bigger in the US but any pop fan with 1-3 years of experience would tell you that nothing on the record can smash in the US. Edited May 21 by bearman 2

It's just not the gimmicky psychedelic people expect but more of a positive and summery spin on it. The songs are very similar to Kevin's last album and it's labelled as psychedelic pop. It also has the Neo-psychedelic elements of Primal Scream (the very organic instrumentation mixed in with weird synths here and there). This literally sounds like a RO outtake Edited May 21 by bearman 2
bearman Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) Sorry for the double post, but wanted to say that I understand the sentiment here when compared to Future Nostalgia because that record had a very gimmicky implementation of the sound it wanted to achieve (it's not a bad thing). Physical has all cheesy tropes of an 80s song, Break My Heart has a literal INXS sample, Levitating and DSN also feature very common instruments and beats that make the GP and average Joe say 'yeah she's bringing Disco back!!!!' On RO, she finally kinda carved a sound for herself that does not rely on Nostalgia (pun intended) and has more niche references that the average radio listener has no idea of. duadududt Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Houdini is still on repeat months after the release, I'll never get tired of this song 2

They really rejected the whole era, the album was very euro centric and still they rejected it. Every major non-uk artist is out streaming her. I really want her to do good in future! It's the most puzzling part, how UK rejects this era. Honestly rather than chasing US hits, she should refocus and try to win back UK again. It's time she put out a dance summer anthem for UK & Europe

Blue Jeans Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Where is the tour announcement?! Are they waiting to see how US reacts to optimize the touring schedule and venues? The album has been out for weeks.
