KatyPrismSpirit Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Let's be real. She did not radically manifest herself back into the rita ora, bebe rexha and ava max league of Albanian flop girlies. It didn't flop that bad. 4 1 1
Delusional Posted May 4 Posted May 4 These Walls kinda has we can't be friends energy, hopefully SNL gives it a boost 1

Post Malone Posted May 4 Posted May 4 wait just clicked play after a while and End Of An Era kinda sounds like Borderline by Ariana ijbol... the noisy kids bopz'd bassline SPAM
Delirious Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Houdini or vertigo would've been such better album titled imo Chaos theory is too try hard but better than radical optism
Green Posted May 4 Posted May 4 However in the streaming era anything can happen. One flop album doesn't mean anything, if Bebe Rexha and Kim Petras can get global hits after being massive flops, Dua can still make a comeback
perfectillusion204 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I also think starting the era in November 2023 was a terrible idea. It's obvious they were going for a FN rollout 2.0. They should've waited to release Houdini the week before or week of the Grammys. And who knows, but I feel like Dance the Night could've been recognized more if she didn't rush into the RO era. It all seemed like such a rushed era/start, and then nothing happening for 6 months. 2

_Fey Posted May 4 Posted May 4 That period in December/Jan where she had all those talk show slots booked....just to talk. About Barbie mainly. Spoiler Which in retrospect was probably good or else who knows what other false info about the album she would have given. 1

Meanwhile Radical Masterpiece is predicted to at least go top 5 despite flopping 2 1 1

A real wtf have we dropped through the looking glass moment? Maybe she's been worn down by the years of grind doing tv (on a human level I have every sympathy, believe me), but bottom line is there's been just two public performances I'm aware of (I'm not counting private gigs like Barcelona or Time 100) in six months. Admittedly Grammys and Brits so huge, and lots of work to rehearse sure, and she was amazing at both, truly brilliant. But just two. During the album launch period. 🤷♂️ Edited May 4 by Vermouth

During you album launch period. 🤷♂️ They obviously thought it would be enough, and I also believe they were going for a 'larger than life' approach this era with a kind of like wow she's SO big now, the only times you'll see her on stage is when she opens the Grammys and Brits and headlines Glasto! Which works for Beyoncé, but only after she had spent 15 years being everywhere, on every stage, no matter how big or small
Delusional Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Why is #IT perched in this thread ?? Please go track 'I **** IT' 3
Cheeky Posted May 4 Posted May 4 There's a lot to unpack here. I think there are several problems but these are the main ones. 1. Her team picked a poor time to decide she was too big a pop star to do conventional promo, performances, etc. for the lead single. We got one performance of Houdini four months later. That's not enough. 2. The music is good (in my opinion) but the singles haven't been as catchy as the FN singles or even DTN, and her style of pop/dance isn't generally what the US market gravitates towards. You can't expect success in a market that you're not catering to every time... and especially when you've decided to hardly promote and perform. 3. It's been a stacked year so far musically which makes my first point even more noticeable. I do wonder if Taylor, Beyoncé and Ariana's album announcements had anything to do with the release date for this one. 1
Bad_vocal_technique Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Imagine comparing Dua with those girls. Don't waste other people's time writing that nonsense, please. 2

I'm so glad to really be properly tuned into this Dua era, Radical Optimism is excellent 1
_Fey Posted May 4 Posted May 4 The fact that we have no idea what she's performing tonight is scary. These Walls is the song they seem to be pushing but, knowing her team, she's not performing it and will instead do Training Season and Anything For Love or something 1 1
