_Fey Posted May 4 Posted May 4 There's just so much they did wrong, I can't believe. Like the more I think about the decisions they made, the more you can tell this was managed by an amateur team who's doing this for the first time. Everything reeks of "Oh, this schedule worked for FN so....let's just do it again! But you're bigger now so no need to put in as much effort! We'll just copy the release schedule and come up with ideas as we go!" 7
stonedatthebarbers Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) She needs to get into the studio with Jack Antonoff and make an indie folk album Edited May 4 by stonedatthebarbers 1 1 3 3 1
hallucinate Posted May 4 Posted May 4 the way she made us wait for like 10 days after the grammys performance for training season like it's hilarious actually the mv was garbaj too 1 3
perpetual novice Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I can't help but remember all the meltdowns when she left TaP for pretty much no reason and how this was the worst case scenario. Like we're in it 1 1
brazil Posted May 4 Posted May 4 The release plan was all wrong, she should've released the album after the Grammy performance together with Training Season
Vermouth Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) 25 minutes ago, Cain said: The thing is they have SAID they wanted this era to last for years, meaning they probably already booked an entire 2025 tour, prepared a rerelease, picked the singles etc I don't see them diverting Well weight of evidence might make them have to adjust a bit. I think the statement was along the lines of we want 2B songs and judge us in two years. Well we are six months in and I'd say they are three nil down halfway through the first half. That said, it looks to me like they were fixated on repeating the FN rollout and failed totally to adjust timings when DTN had legs and Barbie was going to loom large till awards season was over. Just about everything else from lack of performances, to her going round the world literally to do little fan parties and a mates city break just after Houdini launched, to releasing Houdini just before the the hooves of festive reindeer thunder across the charts carrying all before them in a mass of jingling antlers, to sitting on Graham Norton's couch listening to J Timberlake doing the music slot (ffs!!), has been ill thought out from a marketing viewpoint. Musically I think the album is "good", some really nice bits, especially vocally, but it lacks a true megabanger. Houdini as a second single a la BMH would've been great but there's no DSN/NR/OK/Lev etc Hopefully the tour will net a pretty penny still ( she still has a hell of a catalogue), and Glastonbury will be a personal high point for her. At which point some serious thinking will need to be done. The label will have more power now to say do XYZ at least, and she needs to start making choices about not spreading herself too thin possibly, if she wants to continue at the level she's been at. Or she decides to do other things in life…..? Edited May 4 by Vermouth 2 1
Cain Posted May 4 Posted May 4 15 minutes ago, _Fey said: Yeah tbh she also needs to not do a 6 month wait between lead and album. It worked during FN only because she spent those months promoting and building a base. She didn't do that this time so it was just empty space where the hype just lessened and lessened everyday. Exactly, they spent 6 months releasing a song every now and then and waiting

I think she really shot herself when she decided to wait 4 months to even announce the album name. I know after her Grammy's performance, even my straight friends had her on their radar... and then she disappeared.
Post Malone Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Bam Bam kinda bigger than this entire era when you think about it 1 2

bearman Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) A bit of optimism, if we're following the demand for the 3-4 euro shows, the tour is going to do really well. Which is the main point anyway. If I was Warner, I would have avoided the 6 months rollout considering there aren't surefire smashes on the record. Imagine if only Houdini was released and Training Season was the focus single today. It would have generated more buzz Edited May 4 by bearman 1

Cain Posted May 4 Posted May 4 With this colossal bombing, I wonder if Warner is going to heavily plummet the budget from now on or do everything to try and get her back up She's still their flagship popgirl 1

STARFUCKER Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Why did she leave tap management? She should've grabbed them by the balls and refused to let go..
