Illuminati Posted March 5 Posted March 5 This is actually the best way for her to approach this. It doesn't come across as pushing an agenda, which ALWAYS backfires but she absolutely knows the majority of her young voters will be democrat 2
MotherSuperior Posted March 5 Posted March 5 This boring woman should not have bothered to say anything if it was going to be so impartial. I can bet you that Trump ******* read that and shot their guns in the air thinking that the boring rich girl was going to vote for the orang rich fatty. 2 4
penguintim Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Y'all Need To Calm Down (Clean Bandit Remix) bc Miss Taylor Alison Swift did NOT debase herself like this in 2020 just for y'all to accuse her of being a Trump supporter... 2 1

cat1867 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 You understand this is she is speaking out about the primaries. Aka when political parties choose their candiates not when Democrat and Republican candiates are on the ballot against each other. Taylor like tons of other celebrities only make general election endorsements and not primary endorsements.
Kool_Aid_King Posted March 5 Posted March 5 She’s really in an impossible spot. She should’ve just kept quiet rather than give any kind of response. Genocide Joe or Dictator Trump. Anyone speaking out either way will face tremendous backlash. 1

If we do not actually think where she stands and her opinions by now, then I am not sure what do we know then. No artist decides “I have enough fans, I don’t want to attract anymore now”. Long term fans might want to believe that as it makes them feel more valued but it’s not the reality of how marketing works in the real world.
R.E.M. Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Not from the States but how the **** is Trump even allowed to run with all those pending criminal charges? 1

And she, as a musician, certainly tries to bring in new fans with her music. I am not sure why someone would be a fan of anyone who is not a politican just because of shared political opinions. You are telling me you or anyone else would suddenly see Taylor positively if she confirms ( yet again ) her political stances? And like said enough times, people who like her already know her stance, it is well documented. People who are not interested in her anyhow and/or don’t feel positive of her won’t change their opinions or accept what she has to say even if it aligns with their view ( they will see it as performative, PR, dishonest ) and will use that against her later on.
Ger.vaz Posted March 5 Posted March 5 OMG if Trump wins, it is totally her fault. I can already see the threads haha get a life losers. 1 1

CottageHore Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I love when people say she’s “telling people who to vote for” when she quite literally is just encouraging EVERYONE to practice their right to vote and never once endorsed a single candidate. God people are insufferable 1
Vespertine Posted March 5 Posted March 5 That user in here basically implying that Taylor Swift is the only thing standing between us and all-out nuclear warfare… 8

It’s once in a lifetime as most people understand if Trump fails to get back in this year, he won’t be trying again in 2028. 1

He'd be as old as Biden is now, and you know he'd have supporters. I almost want to get him over with now so that would be the end of him permanently in 2028.
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Person who represents me? Ok i will write in Avatar Kyoshi 1
Elusive Chanteuse Posted March 6 Posted March 6 She's a big enough artist to make a political statement without much decrease in sales so she should take a stronger stance. Her fans will still buy all 8 editions. 1 1

Yes, I'm sure she rehearsed and acted out scenes pretending to be against Marsha Blackburn for her documentary, made an instagram post calling out Marsha Blackburn and endorsing Phil Bredesen, used her large platform to call Trump out on Twitter several times (especially throughout campaign season) to let her millions of followers know why he's an awful president, did a feature with V Magazine about why she was voting for Joe Biden, hosted a Q&A on her Twitter with Kamala Harris, all while hoping Trump would actually win. OTHs use your brains challenge! 2
Sannie Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) Eh, it is just the primary so I do not really care, but come time for the general, these girls need to be DIRECT and speaking out, especially those like Taylor who have historically used feminism to boost their brands. 55 minutes ago, MissedTheTrain said: Yes, I'm sure she rehearsed and acted out scenes pretending to be against Marsha Blackburn for her documentary, made an instagram post calling out Marsha Blackburn and endorsing Phil Bredesen, used her large platform to call Trump out on Twitter several times (especially throughout campaign season) to let her millions of followers know why he's an awful president, did a feature with V Magazine about why she was voting for Joe Biden, hosted a Q&A on her Twitter with Kamala Harris, all while hoping Trump would actually win. OTHs use your brains challenge! It was absolutely planned and rehearsed. Why do Swifties not understand their own faves? Everything she does is premeditated, and I do not mean that in a bad way. Planned or not, she made a good point with her speech about Marsha. Edited March 6 by Sannie 1
BODERLINE Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Idk why anyone gives a **** about celebrity endorsements in the first place. Voting is about your OWN personal beliefs and values. It shouldn’t matter at all to your own votes, who Taylor - or any celebrity, votes for. Glad she’s encouraging people to vote in the primaries though, as they absolutely should!
Specter Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Sorry but Is this what passes for speaking out? & It doesn't go unnoticed by me that a lot of her PoC peers — many of whom are far more politically engaged than her — get frequently dragged by her base for "not doing enough." Interesting! 1
Onyxmage Posted March 10 Posted March 10 People do realize that we vote for more than just the president right? Our local and state elections have FAR more impact on our lives than federal elections do. There is absolutely nothing wrong with telling people to vote if they want their voice heard. The deranged Taylor haters will always find some way to make anything she says negative. So pathetic. 1
