If this theory isn't true already, I would definitely say it is starting. Just read an article 2 days ago on GQ re: Johnny Depp trial and bots on twitter: On Ig you have to send them a government document so at least there even if they paid meta verified you know they are real On x yeah anyone can pay a verification
TaggedGalaxy Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Not yet but we are heading there with the advancement of AI, soon we won’t be able to tell what’s real and what isn’t
Digitalism Posted March 2 Posted March 2 People that are chronically online start speaking like bots without noticing it
Zylo Posted March 2 Posted March 2 (edited) We’re approaching it. For example, I’ve noticed many top comments on YouTube from bots that were stolen from a real person, with multiple replies from real people. In twitch streams, there are even bots typing messages to emulate the average person. Sometimes they say something *so* unrelated or are replying to something/someone that doesn’t exist that you’re able to catch them. Many Twitter blue checks are also stealing human replies, as if they’ve slowly realized you get more engagement by looking like an actual human instead of appealing to people’s sexuality. Like on a popbase tweet I’m seeing an OF bot saying “Ouu she ate this ns…” like what?? There’s some soccer blue check that fooled many people too, because they steal a random persons tweets with low engagement which effectively makes them look real. Oh and Reddit has a huge issue with this too. I’ve seen entire comment histories of duplicated comments on some bot accounts , where real people will be replying to or upvoting bots without a clue that they’re speaking into the void So with all of these examples you can only imagine what will happen when they get more refined.
